Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else I could not find it. Is there a good source somewhere on setting up a deck of cards to be used as bunch of packet trick effects. Like starting off with a normal deck or 2 and/or some gaff cards and setting up a deck that can fit in a box that can be used for multiple packet effects?

I was just fooling around, and my desk pretty much has this set up now.
- Full Deck (Blue) with 4 Aces and 4 Jacks on top face-down, one red-back Queen face-down on the bottom. - The blank card below the red-back queen. - Normal Blue-Back Jokers, 1 red-back joker face-up below the blank card. So I can open the box and take out the deck and quickly separate the jokers from the rest of the deck. I can do re-set (Loving that effect now!), lead into a red-hot mama (I can then get rid of the red card), do any other full deck effects, and then take the red-back joker (it's face-up) and go into cross-twist. Pretty much ends there. I don't use many gaff cards generally. But I might bring Skinner's 3CM in a separate packet from time to time. My 2 cents. |

Being creative to set up a deck with two or three packet tricks is half the fun! Controling a few cards on top and bottom of the deck helps you immediately. And, as stated above, you just go from one trick to the next eliminating one packet trick at a time. A few packet tricks incorporated with a memorized deck? You can do some phenomenal magic.
Also, IMO, always have a key card in the set-up.

That's an awesome setup and good advice. I know as my routines grow I will eventually find a good setup. Just wondering if there was some written material or something on the subject.

I mostly use impromptu packet tricks, so all I have to do is pull the cards I need out of the deck. Sometimes there's a little covert arranging going on, but I've got a couple dozen I can do without the need for gaffs. If I want to use a gaffed trick, it's usually something done with cards that are obviously different from the deck so I have justification for pulling out a few 'special' cards for a particular effect. Mostly though I go impromptu all the way.

I heard from a friend that anecdotal evidence is actually quite reliable. |
