Every time I do some of my flourishes, people are immediately fascinated like they've never seen someone manipulate a deck of cards before.
They also come up to me and say, "Do you know any tricks?" and that's when I start performing a few card tricks. Does this happened to you? |

Sometimes. People love flourishes.

Constantly, people wouldn't know I'm a magician if it wasn't for my paddiddle.

Actually, when I do flourishes, most people just sit and watch! They don't care about tricks, because they're already having fun!

All the time. It seems to be the only way people ask me to do something. It's weird. Sometimes they say, "wow wouldn't want to play cards with him." That's when I reply, "listen ***** I do sybil not a center deal ok.!" J/K : )

Sybils, fans and cuts are where I get people's attentions.

I know this nice flourish kid, Houdinez. One day I went with him to Maui Tacos and he catches most people's attention's by doing tons of one handed cut combinations and one hand shuffles. He makes four fans in while holding each fan within the fingers.
Flourishes sure do catch people's attention because it's something that requires physical skill that deals with the hands, and if it looks elegant, beautiful, but complicated, people shall pay attention to it. |

I'm not that proficient with flourishes yet, but I like practicing the Charlier cut and various flashy false cuts. If people are watching, all the better.

Definitely need to use flourishes. Makes you look so much better when you are performing magic. Flourishes are great by themselves too

Simple one-handed fan flourishes with an American flag backed deck is what I use to draw a crowd on the street.
I walk around my pitch area talking, yelling, etc, encouraging folks to "gather round; come on down, the big show is about to begin", all of the time opening and closing a colorful flag deck card fan in each hand. Once I get a crowd, I start my routine with a card effect, after I toss the flag deck on my table shelf and pull a bike deck to start. The fans are simple enough and wind resistant, can be done while walking, talking and waving my hands, and the American flag backs are very colorful. But to some people a one handed fan isn't really a "flourish". Although I think that technically it is one. And people really do like to see someone do, what they believe is impossible. BroDavid

That's weird that a one-handed fan is not a flourish?
