A new figure arrived today to join my little vent "family", although everyone here is already familiar with this guy, having followed his creation in this thread;
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......&start=0 Some may remember that I have the first head that Jim carved, and now I have this one and it makes it so obvious to me how he has jumped by leaps and bounds in a really short time period, quickly progressing to a level of figure carving that would take most people years to get to. The quality of this head carving (not to mention the body which is also VERY well done) easily puts him in the same league of many of the already well-knowns. I just really don't know what else to say, it's just all-around a beautiful piece of work. I sure hope you're proud of yourself Jim because you certainly have a right to be! I've already come up with an idea for his character, I think his name is going to be "Joey" (Dickens of course, same as all of my figures), and he's a classic mobster, a real "wiseguy", even carries his violin case with his "gat" inside. But the idea is when Mr. tough-guy mobster's violin case falls open and what's inside? A teddy bear with a name tag that says "gat". Seems like an idea that has potential for a little fun. Anyway, here are a few pics I took of him with his jazzy new fedora hat (though I think it might need a white band) and his violin case;

I'm so pleased you bought him. He's a really beautiful figure and the character you've given him is terrific!
Yes, Jim certainly has an artistic eye and produces quality work BTW where did you get such a small violin case?? |

I went searching on ebay hoping to find a child size violin with a case and came across these ones meant for a costume.

Awesome character, Dave, and a very clever idea with the case and teddy bear.
Jim is a wonderful artist (and a great guy). I am pleased to hear how much you like his work (for more reasons than one)! |

That could make you all god-parents (but don't anyone get any ideas about having the godson come visit or staying).

Glad you like what you saw and thank you for taking a look.
No, he can't be a "made man", that would make him too bad - not to mention the hassle of trying to find a decent looking toy tommy-gun the right size to fit him and/or the case.
