Does anyone do a lot of card magic with miniature decks?
I have always been partial to miniature decks of cards for gimmicked decks. Easier to switch in and out, you can carry more of them on you, and they are an amusing thing for a lay audience. I'm considering creating a suite of mini trick decks, along with instructions and techniques for switching them. Just wonder what you guys think? |

Now that I am older, I have noticed that the news papers and phonebook publishers have started to use smaller and blurier fonts. And you want to use cards that are smaller? Just kidding
Are you thinking of full decks ie. Invisable Deck, Brain Wave, etc? I think mini packet effects could be interesting; B'Wave, NFW, Twisted Sister, etc would be fun. One could carry quite a few different packet tricks in a wallet. Mini ESP decks would be interesting too... are those even made? |

Wow! Mini ESP decks sound great! I didn't think of that.
Personally, I can carry a stacked deck, a straight deck, a razored deck, a stripper deck, and a color changing deck all in my jacket pocket if the decks are mini decks. They are much easier to index and switch in and out than full size decks. I just wonder if others are interested in this as much as I am. Brainwave mini decks are already out there for sale. And the Invisible Deck is for a larger audience, not really close-up, so I don't think this needs to be produced in a mini size. But there are plenty of packet tricks and gimmicked decks that could be made in mini size that will play just as big as full size cards. And who uses a phonebook anymore? I find that as I get older, I just have to get bigger TV screens... All kidding aside, impaired vision has killed my center tear. I just can't read it anymore, but that's mostly because I refuse to switch to bi-focals. I wear contact lenses when I perform and I can't read any fine print that is less than an arms length away. |

Since you said that you already carry and use the mini decks, what are peoples reactions to the smaller cards?
A booklet on the merits of using a mini deck and switch techniques could be interesting. As far as mfg mini trick decks; stacked decks, those that have a favorite method would make up their own; though a stripper deck(especially if you could get those queens to do pole dances!)would be a little more difficlt to make as a DIY project as would a mini svengalli. What decks would you be thinking of making? It's a conspiracy with the mirror companys too... I know for a fact that the reflection in that mirror has made me look a lot older than what I really am! |

You're right, a stacked deck is not a gimmicked deck and the stack is a matter of personal preference.
Maybe the project is really a DVD on the deck switches and effects with mini cards, with mini decks included. What I'm using is: Straight deck, stacked deck, razor deck and color changing deck. Not all in one show, you can't follow the razor deck with another mini deck trick, and the color changing deck is a finale. Again though, I only gravitate towards the mini decks because the switches are so easy and you can carry so many of them on your person. It expands the "gimmicked possibilities" that I would not otherwise consider an option, when the footprint is reduced. A mini Omni deck would be cool. A mini Extractor would fit in with this act too. A mini rising card deck, marked deck, etc. There are a lot of effects with gimmicked decks that could be constructed in miniature if you can get the gimmicked cards. I think just getting a playing card company to print miniature double facers, blank faces and blank backs would be a monumental acheivement! Personally, I think that is a job for Christian at Card-Shark - and Roger tells me that they are working on a minature deck of their Phoenix cards. I can't wait! The Bicycle mini decks are not what they used to be. |

I think the small packet tricks would be really cool- I would like to have a version of color monte. It would be easy to keep 3 mini cards in my wallet and always have it ready to perform. The mini stripper deck would be great as well.
