I like the wild card trick, and I have several versions of it Vallerino, Takagi, Dobrowolski, Wonder and others, but wanted TAROT Cards, and so far the only that I knew were available are Card Shark's, and because I did not need a whole tarot deck, I looked of very old tarot pictures and liked the Visconti sforza, circa 1400, so I picked some images and enhanced as much as I could and then I used http://www.makeplayingcards.com/ , somebody referenced this company as good here at the Café and I worked with them, a deck of 54 cards cost me $18 shipped to NY, I printed 3 sets of wild cards (using Tommy Wonder idea of rotating the packets, 3 packets of Color Monte type of trick (I own the original but like many I was using regular cards no the diamonds), some blank backs and other packet tricks that I thought a tarot face looks nicer.
Before somebody complain of potential copyrights of 15th century images, this is for my use, I don't perform, not I sell these cards Here are some of the pictures I used The magician The hangman |

I think these are beautiful! Are you familiar with the C@rnie Tarot? Major arcana only. If you are not and want more info, PM me. I do not want to post more due to possible exposure.

David, if you are referring to Outlaw's I am familiar, however I am not interested in tarot reading, or fortune reading in general. I just wanted to have some tarot cards to do wild card effects. Originally I wanted to do it with Batman pictures, but I thought the company would given me a hard time because of the copyrights.

Very cool Pablo Thank you for posting. Great images and I checked out the website. Looks like they'll do just about anything.

Thanks, that's a very useful link for the card printing. By the way, Paul Wilsom had a good handling for a Color Monte routine with Tarot cards which appeared in his "Knock 'Em Dead" lecture notes and probably on the DVD of the same name.
The routine was later updated and put on the market in 2003 : http://www.elmwoodmagic.com/full/card-gy......1671.htm The first person to do the wild card with tarot cards of course was Peter Kane. His own set WERE Tarot cards, rather than the tarot like cards that came with the marketed version, "Gypsy Curse". Paul. |

Thank you Paul, did not know about Kane using Tarot cards, but make sense.

Thanks for the link to MakePlayingCards.com. Definitely bookmarking that site.
As an aside, the issue of copyright is an interesting one. I'm assuming that you do not own the *original* 15th century tarot cards, but obtained them from some source, either physical or online. Most likely, your source *did* claim a copyright which you could be in violation of. That being said however, a New York court case from 1998, Bridgeman Art Library v Corel, comes down in your favor. Bridgeman sued Corel for using its (old) images, but it was decided that since Bridgeman did not *create* anything, they weren't able to enforce a copyright. - Bob |

Paul, I got from Card Shark the Gypsy Curse set of cards + DVD with Tonny van Rhee's handling. Could you please point out other handlings which and where to find them, hopefully using the same set of cards? Thanks mlippo [/quote] I quoted some versions other than Peter's own Gypsy Curse/Hungarian Guessing game in my book "Small But Deadly" in the chapter headed "Wild Effects and Peter Kane". The ones I named were J. C. Wagner's from "The Commercial Card Magic of J. C. Wagner" , Dingle's from "The Complete Works of Derek Dingle" and Ron Bauer's "Sudden Death Gypsy Curse" manuscript. Also in my book are a few tips for using Peter's routine as a walk around effect with no table and with a quick reset that can be done in front of people. This is further proof that my book should be on most magic book shelves for reference purposes.... There was also a version by T. A Waters on a videotape of his. But it was nothing special if I recall correctly. There was nothing wrong with Peter Kane's handling. Paul. |
