I'm performing this one as often as I can right now and am getting some very interesting results. I was wondering if any of you have any experience performing this impromptu effect?

Not familiar with it- is it in Card College?

It's in Card College Lighter (p66). The effect is that you are able to determine how many cards have been taken from the pack by a spectator, and so the number of cards you hold matches the number they have. Haven't actually tried this one myself.

Gotcha. I have the original Card College but have not run into it there as of yet.
I have an old Bob Longe "World's Greatest" book that has several effects along the line you mention. Sounds like a mathematical effect, although you don't want to present it that way. I love impromptu effects, especially with a borrowed deck. I have found such effects to be very well received and magical if the presentation misdirects away from the math workings, mostly because reconstruction is so difficult. My favorites frequently use the Gilbreath principle... Jim

No, I haven't tried A Condition of Balance, although it sounds interesting. Mr. Mystoffelees, my favorite Gilbreath principle trick is the Matchmaker. Have you ever done that one?

SheldonR-
No, I am not familiar with Matchmaker. Where might I find it? Most of what I do is one-off from the principle itself- i.e. cuts and shuffles followed by "what are the odds" of every four cards having one of each suit, etc..... I would love to know some pro effects that lean heavily on the big G... Jim

I can't remember where I've seen Matchmaker, so I had to Google it and found a quick description here. Maybe once you read it you will recognize it; for all I know it has another name.

A question of balance is one of my favorite impromptu card trick. So easy...good impact. Worth a try.
Do your best and forget the rest
