I have used 1.25" crochet balls for years. I have just changed to 1" cork balls covered in a suede lace monkey's fist, making them about 1.25". I have found that using super balls or mouse balls under the knot are so heavy that they talk (loudly) when a cup is inverted, same with a ball bearing core. It also makes them so heavy that they will not work for the chop cup. Cork lands on the table much softer. I have found, though, that given the same sized rubber or cork core, one can use the two types as home made bounce/no bounce balls!
My 2.125" load balls are about to be replaced with 2" cork covered with a monkey's fist, once I can find the cork balls. I LOVE the monkey's fist balls - so easily palmed and manipulated, and they are far less likely to blow off the table in the windy state of Oklahoma! |

I use either the Brett Sherwood 1 1/8 inch balls or a set of very heavy mouse balls 1 1/8 inch custom made by The Ambitious Card. I also sometimes use the 1 1/8 inch Monkeyknuts balls.
