How can you vote for a trick you don't own or have at least tried? Based off the promotional videos or chatter here on TMC?

This is so crazy. I am so happy x-act is getting some votes. This has been a dream come true for me. The best trick I bought this year is from Woody Aragon's book, A Bool in English. The effect is called, "How To Find Your Other Half". Sadly, the book was published in 2011.

This is a hard one as there were many really good effects in 2012. If I had to choose, here is my list:
Sync by Jose Prager I love the way it can be used so casually and seemingly impromptu. The DVD shows a business card routine and a penny routine. Both are excellent. The newer DVD features Justin Miller with his handling which is far superior to the orginal handling. Zodiac by Chris Ballinger and Birthday Detector by Chris Hare Using Zodiac in conjunction with Birthday Detector is awesome! 3 by Eric Ross The Watermark Effect is really good. I devised a cool method to do a great routine without a deck of cards. You can see it on "magic Café 3 by Eric Ross". You will need the effect for it to make sense, but if you do own it, check it out. Hopper by Justin Miller This would be my fourth pick, so don't count it if you must, but this is my favorite card routine of the year. Other really cool items: Closure by Smith and Eggink Exact Change by Greg Wilson The Cooler by Christian Engblom |

I'm adding "3 by Steve Valentine" to my list. That one is a gem for sure.

Of course, as magicians we often know how things MUST be able to be done, so I'm wondering if that came into play while you were watching the video performance? This reminds me of watching Jerry Andrus at the close-up gallery of the Magic Castle. He'd go half way through his show before revealing to the audience that his "glasses" were nothing more than an empty frame....no lenses!!! Nobody other than magicians who had seen his show before noticed the missing lenses due to the subtle psychological element at work. |

Hi,
I also own the "Unkown" DVD. I think Bag4Life is a really good effect indeed BUT if you don't already own the "tool" for it, it really sucks because the gimmick is to expensive in my opinion. It's a pity it didn't come with the Dvd. Maybe the total amount for "a bundle" (DVD & Gimmick) would have been cheaper - nevertheless it's a nice effect. Cheers Nikki

In no particular order:
SkyCap by PH Presents Stitched by Alexander Kolle X-act by Mike Kirby If I can take a vote from someone who only used up two of theirs, I'd add Captain and Coke 2.0 by Blue Crown. A rehash of Scotch and Soda, but the machining to get this done is a work of art!! And just for the record- I own all 4. Calling the award "The Houdin" is fine by me, but once it has a name it will need an actual statue! |

You make a good point MJ Marrs, I did see it the first time I watched the video thou . My problem being a beginner and spending far too much money on magic, it's hard to buy tricks when you don't know the secret and how good it's going to be, so when I watch the video I need to be convinced its a good investment and on first look I thought no. Spent £30 the other day , won't mention the trick but its garbage . Then sent £20 on chaos2 and I love it , highly recommended . Buying tricks is hard work and costly.
