"My opinion is that only posters with 50 posts or more should be counted. I think JDG should step in and clarify rules around who is allowed to vote. "
Agreed! Some of those votes that came in the end are fishy! Can you say sock puppets? |

Yikes,
Just checked in here. Well, I know one of the rules was to keep this thread positive and contain joy. (sigh) This kind of thing always drives me crazy- I have always made it a policy to never ever debate online. It's just a battle that can never ever be won. That's just a fact. I made that rule for myself in the very beginning. And I also try to be universally loved, so there' that, too, lol. That said, I guess I need to chime in here. So... I personally feel it is 100%, absolutely, without question, okay for people to ask their supporters to come out and vote. I mean, isn't that how elections work? I can't even fathom how you could have a contest without letting people know. That doesn't even make sense to me, lol. Wha? Now granted, I don't believe people should be asking others to lie. But I haven't seen that happening anywhere. As for a minimum of 50 posts, I went back and looked at the thread and counted a dozen of people who have (had) under 50 so it would be unfair to discount them. And there didn't seem to be any "fix" in place. I also think this is a great place for people to join the Café as this is fairly safe way to be introduced to it. Well, it should be. But, if I don't say anything, I'll be labeled as a ^%#&*@&n @%^7 son of a &^@&@(*_ who likes to *@&*@( with *@(**&^! and my ego just can't take that. So in order to try and appease everyone, I'll count every vote from someone who has under 50 Posts as a half-vote. So if you have under 50 posts, join into the conversations that abound on the Café. Learn, share, and enjoy- and get your posts up to 50 before the end of the month to have a full voice. Hopefully that's fair? If not, I'd like to say, for the record, that I never &@^*^@ that ((@&*&!! in the *&^@*&^@. Honest. Your pal, jamie

Well, I am amazed, I guess The magic Café likes number of posts over content. I voted for C2W by Shawn Farquhar because I use it and I love it.I have bought many card to wallets and C2W is the first one I have bought that works well enough for me that I am happy to post about it.
I have been a member of the Café for years now and because I don't usually post I only get 1/2 a vote, I think this is some sneaky way of slanting the votes and I think this is a big ripoff. |

And point proven.
Gord- easy fix. As I mentioned, jump into any of the thousands of conversations here on the Café. Take part and learn, laugh, or in my case, cry, as you read, write, and respond. You've got four entire days to become a full fledged 50 post member which, aside from giving you a full vote, will also gain you access to "Secret Sessions." Back to Voting! What are your TOP 3? "The Houdin" is up for grabs!

I'm actually most impressed by:
1) Christian Engblom's "The Cooler" I realize that this isn't a "trick" in itself, but I find that it opens up incredible possibilities. |

Magicbern You were obviously influenced by Shawn's attempt to drum up votes via his facebook page. He's after another trophy. Got to admire his competitive streak. For those that haven't seen it here's a copy of his request... Jamie, I don't know you but I used to respect some of the comments and reviews you have posted. However I think it's extremely presumptuous and obnoxious of you to put words in my mouth and make accusations. Whether or not Shawn wants another trophy is immaterial - I voted for his trick because it was a refreshing organic adaptation of the Card to Wallet premise. I've been experimenting with numerous wallets over the years and honestly think this version is perfect for everyday use. Thanks but no thanks for your unasked for comments and accusations as to my intent or motive for posting. My vote stands - whether or not Shawn wins and whether or not you like it! |

Seriously, though (yes, the above was meant in jest, ONLY), if this vote was intended to be a vote of the Café community, it is understandable to want to prevent a 'block' of voters coming in and skewing the results. There are people who have been around awhile who have very few posts...well, we can't have it all, I suppose.

So I was thinking last night that there must be a way to see when people joined the Café. Why does it have to be by number of posts? Let's look at when folks who voted joined the Café shall we?
Jack Poulter Joined: Jan 01, 2004 (0.00 messages per day) Posts: 1 (0.00% of total) Gord Joined: Dec 22, 2010 (0.03 messages per day) Posts: 22 (0.00% of total) Waterloophai Joined: Apr 28, 2009 (0.42 messages per day) Posts: 572 (0.01% of total) Jamie Ferguson Joined: Aug 06, 2011 (2.73 messages per day) Posts: 1480 (0.04% of total) The guy with the most posts is the NEWEST member having only joined in 2011, which is a year after you! Jack Poulter has only one post but has been a member since 2004... |

Throw my vote in for TKO 2.0. It's the only 2012 effect I purchased this year, but ... ah, the possibilities!

I don't remember when I joined the Café that opinions were only valid if A user had 50 posts and I take offence to that statement.

Jamie Ferguson, your recent comment is not in the least bit funny. "I'm not prepared to listen to your opinion as you have less than 50 posts." That is most likely the most ******y thing I have ever read you post. I think he brings up a a good point. In fact I just looked and see of all the people in this thread I am likely the oldest having joined in 2002 and I have just 500 some odd posts and that's only due to the recent guest question and answer event. You average 3 posts everyday since you joined just over a year and a bit ago. Most of your posts are to attack others, Geez in this thread alone you have seven posts that just attack others. Let's get back to the voting, Jamie Ferguson, you should think twice before posting such inane comments so I can continue to respect you, and let's abide by Jamie Grants rules, even if they are amended to appease people like you...
Sincerely, -shawn |
