I was very very very lucky to sold mine at 800$.
It's like Mirage at the time, it's important to be the first to sell an item which was not present on ebay for a long time, because after the price gradually decreases. |

You've never seen Juan Tamariz perform "Oil and Water."

I have Richard. I've also seen Rene Lavand's version.
Both strike me as tricks that epitomise 'magicians magic'. Sorry but the plot (in the same way as Ambitious Card, ACAANS, cards turning face up/face down and magicians performing Poker Hand tricks in the UK) just all leave me cold. In my book, they are boredom personified; as are many other card tricks. Sorry if you don't agree - it's just my point of view fella.

I don't see how any of those things are "magician's magic" unless they're badly constructed just to fool magicians.
Rene Lavand and Juan Tamariz are pros--that's how they earn a living (not performing for magicians). They are both widely considered to be among the finest living magicians. They know their stuff, and they both do "Oil and Water." Doesn't that tell you something? |

Sorry, can't really see that logic Richard.
Because if you are going to use that example to support your point of view, does the fact that most professional magicians DON'T use it therefore make it a bad trick then?

Barry please share the full results of your poll results of effects that most pro magicians do not perform... Did not know that existed... Could make a great Genii article
Eric Mead performed an amazing Oil and Water effect in his set at the Genii Bash, I and many in the room had no clue ( I have been accused of that before). Perhaps it was magicians magic but to me it was a beautiful effect, easy plot to follow, fooling and entertaining... Isn't that what it is all about? |
