Just purchased Aaron Fisher's re-release of Panic. Been playing around with it today and was wondering if anybody here uses this in their performance?

Could have been a bad demo. I saw Aaron do this and it is very astounding when done right. I have used it in a small setting with great results. It is a great way to work in a deck switch...

The only negative for me is using Mandolin backs, as I prefer to use Bicycle...

I think Panic can work with any back. So using Bicycle back is not a problem.

I have seen Aaron also do this live at one of his lectures. It looks good if done correctly. I have done this in both close up and parlor setting and had nothing but great reactions.

There is a handling on the DVD that adresses the Mandolin / Biicycle back issue. I use it table hopping occasionally on a call back and it goes great. I believe that yoiu need to blow them away a little with a straight deck before using an effect like Panic, but if they think you are good they buy the premise and the gaff easily.

I like the new Panic, although I do find I get a better reaction (perhaps it is easier handling) with the Travelling Deck by Takel (available from Magic Tao).

Just my opinion but who displays a deck that way? Also it would look very flat from the sides. Seems like angles could be a problem with people sitting at each elbow while table hopping.

There is a big angle issue with the TD and Panic, it works well for people standing (but not surrounded!), they are powerful effects though.

What has been changed for the re-relase? I have the first one, and I love it, but did not know Aaron had re-released a newer version!

Mandolin backs- I just switched the top card for a matching bicycle card (king). It takes a bit of practice to get the holding of this down but I think it looks killer. People aren't really expecting the vanish so at that point I don't think there is a lot of heat on the cards. Nice trick. Wonder how his new machine looks up close and personal.

I think I prefer to stay with Bikes, since that's all I use. So switchng suddenly to Mandolyn backs would be incongruent. But it's a wonderful trick and I always get great reactions.

No not that I know of. He did a lecture in Studio City, CA at the magic apple. It was awesome seeing it live.
