Hi guys,

As you all know, Valentine's Day is coming soon!
I am a beginner in magic and wonder if you guys know any trick that will be especially suitable for that.
I am learning mainly card magic but am open to any magic outside of that.

Thanks a lot.

The Wizards' Journal #8 has quite a few articles based on Valentine themes. The one I get out and reuse every year is my own "Tying the Knot" from that issue of the WizJ.

This is also a perfect time to get heart shaped props from the Dollar Stores, and Torn and Restored Valentines told with the right storyline can create that magic moment and tug on heart strings a little.

You could do a larger show with "Love Storm by Alan Wong". This is basically Snowstorm in China, but with heart shaped paper. You can also perform "Souvenir Linking Loverbands by Alan Wong". This is great for couples. What the effect is is that you take two single separated red heart-shaped rubber bands and visually link them together for a souvenir for the couple.

I like Twilight Angels, by Paul Harris.

You're right, V's Day is coming. And not an eligible lady in the entire city of Augusta! Smile

Check out Michael Mode's napkin rose. Not a trick per-se, but never fails to wow the ladies.

Very interesting and so perfect for V Day. Hm... this requires a gaff card right?

Just the one card added to a deck. If you bought the multi-pack, you can give it to her!

Doc Eason's Anniversary Waltz. Very Simple, very powerful, and a great gift.

There's Paul Gertner's Heart Breaker:

Attraction by Gary Kurtz, where the rings of two lovers come together on a pencil or some type of rod. See his book or DVD.

I like to get a few blank faced cards and write some message on them (your choice, can be as simple as I (heart) you or when combined show some kind of message) and do a four aces kind of effect where you make them appear(preferably in order). I always get a good response if I end with this on or near Valentine's day

If you have an ink jet printer and some blank-faced cards...man, the possibilities!
