Picked up a used Match Sticks T-126 for a song at 12 bucks. No instructions were included. If someone could assist me with a copy of the instructions, it would greatly be appreciated. Once received from post, I can email photo of it in my hands to prove I've acquired it.
Thanks CHRIS |

Recently spent some time working on this. I do not like to have to make complex calculations while in front of an audience, so I set about working on a better way to work Match-sticks.
I now have a much easier way to determine what has to be done with these to show a match. These work if, from the performer's perspective, the white are on the right. Look at both match sticks, read from left to right. If the numbers are going up (1,2 for instance) no moves are needed. (keep in mind that 1 is above 4, since it is a cycle). If the numbers go down (3,2) then the left one requires the move. (again, 1,4 is going down since its cyclical). If the numbers are both odd or both even (but different, i.e. 1-3 or 2-4) then the right gets the move. If the numbers are matched as you look at them then obviously you know what to do. The memory pnemonic I have is this: White to the right. "Up 2 - Normal Down - left even/odd, right? Staring at both." This makes it considerably faster and easier to master the 'sticks. |

Sounds more complicated than the original!

Actually its much easier, Richard.
You simply read the number from left to right and instantly know which side (if any) needs a secret move. It's a one-step process. The instructions require a 3-step process of 1) calculate the alternative on black block; 2) calculate alternative on right block (which uses a different methodology from the black blocks) 3) Determine the common number and determine which block needs the move. Using my way you memorize a short 4 line mnemonic. Then you just read the numbers from left to right and in one step of determining what the situation is (numbers go up, numbers go down, numbers are both even or odd, numbers are the same) you know instantly which block may or may not need special handling. As an added benefit, you can come back to the effect after it has been in a drawer for a year and with the white blocks on the right and a refresher on the simple mnemonic you can perform it instantly, without having to relearn the 3 step process in the original instructions. Give it a shot Richard, you'll like it! You may not like it as much as I like your books "Showtime at the Tom Foolery" or "Secrets of Brother John Hamman" but you'll like it! |

I actually don't perform any tricks which require mental calculations of any kind. Nor any tricks which require memory work. They're not my style. I hope others find merit in your idea.
