I am literally like 10 years late to the facebook party...lol
Heres a few of the facts.... I have an illusion show that is marketed as a fundraiser. My show has a Facebook fan page with a small following. I put zero time into this currently, but will be changing that now, and am about to put a program in place to drive up my fans. Now the situation I need help with. If I want to capatalize on the fundraising groups personal Facebook pages, what is the best way to go about this? Should they create an event? And then post links on their walls? Should the event also link back to my fan page? I am screwed up with some of these terms as well, I don't have a personal Facebook account, so the entire process is pretty new to me. Thanks in advance, sb |

FaceBook has evolved quite a bit and isn't as "friendly" as it used to be. They now want you to pay to promote posts on your fan page. I'm not sure if that applies to fundraising groups or not. Only a small percentage of your "fans" ever see a post unless you use other means to direct them to it. I've talked with several acts who are starting to move in other directions. Wishing you luck with the promotion.

About 1-2/3rds of my page fans see my content. Ads help, but having good posts is more important because people can like and share it, which can help others see it without paying a cent.
Here's a tip: most people I know think of event invites by performers obnoxious. But, they do help because they have the important details. The reason they find them annoying is because a lot of bands and what not treat Facebook as just a new megaphone to blast boring information at. Use facebook to literally be "social" in a digital way. So invite people who you think might truly care to show up. |

In the top right hand corner of your facebook screen there is a pad lock. If you click that pad lock you can make public your security settings so that your posts will be seen by all of your fans. https://www.facebook.com/AlAngelloJuggle......adelphia

I suggest reading Perry Marshall's book on Facebook marketing. You could lose your shirt with it way faster than Adwords.

Anyone who spends money marketing magic on face book is definitely someone to stay far away from.

You are absolutely right Danny as a kids magician I try to make the majority of my facebook contacts with local bloggers, community news letters, church, scout, farmers markets, and civic organizations who have a large following of local citizens. I get calls from women all the time who tell me that they found me on a facebook search, liked my fan page, and wants to know more information.

I am not a facebook expert, and I have gotten PM's telling me that the pad lock doesn't appear on every page, but it appears on my Home page, my wall, and my fan page. Everybody who is my facebook fan sees all of my posts. If your pad lock only appears on your home page then you must take this matter up with Mark Zuckerberg

It appears on all of those same pages, but I'm pretty sure they limit your feed visibility after you make it over 300 fans or something. I think I'll just have to do some I'm depth research on this

I don't understand, if it appears on every page what is your problem? Why don't you try making a post on your fan page and ask your friends if they saw it?

Part of this is simply that only some people don't use facebook often enough to see the posts, but also that facebook wants people to pay for the posts to be seen by the people who already liked the page. |

If you go back to that pad lock you will see the "who I can contact" which is what we were talking about this morning, but the "who can contact me" category is far more important. If half of your facebook fans choose not to see your posts you are screwed.

Al, I was trying to explain that the padlock settings control personal pages only. It has nothing to do with business pages.

On FaceBook, "Edge Rank" (FB’s algorithm) determines how many of and whom ever actually sees your stories, (postings) And it sure ain’t much. - For the average daily user ONLY 10% to 25% (Not ‘Exact Numbers’ of course.) or all your friends and fans (Likes) will ever see your posted stories directly unless... and THAT is the BIG unless! (Lots of variables… let’s just say “Engagement” is still a big deal, but either way it doesn’t increase much unless you PAY to “Promote” and then still not ALL will ever see it anymore.... as of this posting and for now anyway, but FB is tweakin’ & dinkin’ with it every day and a all new newsfeed has been announced anyway.)
https://www.facebook.com/BIZofSHOW?ref=h......mments=1 That is NOT to say that FB is dead yet… hehehe… just sayin’. I STILL use FB to promote events... just gotta' know what yer' in for is all. Thanks a lot Deano
The video looked like a rearrangement of what we already had, but it sure looks to me like fans are not as important as using the fan page as a scrap book and sending potential customers there to look at the latest pictures of you in action.

Deano, I was just about to chime in and say the same thing about the engagement.
The key to ANY successful social media marketing campaign breaks down into several steps: 1) Building relationships that have FB accounts and sending them to your fan page to "Like" it. 2) Targeting your QUALIFIED audience! Meaning that you should keep your "best" leads into their own group to avoid what is know in the marketing world as "blind archery". 3) Engagement...but not all about you. Too many people (and businesses) try to make their posts about themselves or their product. The key is to continue to keep the conversation going and generate questions and feedback. 4) Not over-saturating your audience but knowing WHEN to post specific topics and posts. 5) Offering reward programs and/or referral incentives or holding contests. There's another 30-40 things you can do to successfully generate a LOT of revenue from Facebook. Yes, pay-per-click ads are one but not the "end all be all" solution. In fact, I have been having tremendous success with my new business of building custom designed fan pages for magicians as well as small businesses! By incorporating print with social media, you're able to increase not only the number of fans on your page but also convert them as well. In my conversation with Danny Doyle several months ago, I was able to briefly discuss several ways to leverage your Facebook page with print to generate increased traffic as well as generate sales DIRECTLY inside of Facebook by using my services. Here's just a few happy clients: http://www.facebook.com/joshuajaymagician http://www.facebook.com/EricJonesMagic/app_102068836552678 http://www.facebook.com/KentuckyMagicTheater http://www.facebook.com/MyPetBoris Also, if you look at the chart below, you'll notice from the insights image from My Pet Boris that after a collaborative effort on both my page as well as Ian's (the developer), we were able to go from an outreach of 974 to over 10,000 viewers in just SEVEN DAYS!!! THAT'S the power Facebook allows you to achieve when properly marketed correctly. Likewise, you'll notice a more important line and that's the yellow one. That one shows how many people are talking about you and your product/service. You can see from that same chart that we went from 66 people talking about My Pet Boris to 271 talking about it. The average FB user has about 140 friends so you can imagine what happens as they share or talk about it on their wall. The down side of this is of course, when you fail to engage or maintain your fan page, your stats will dwindle. In the case above, it's not necessarily a bad thing because the time that was spent away from Facebook went into developing a better product. You see, after only a week, Ian was able to get tons of great feedback from his buyers. He provided excellent customer service and LISTENED to his fans. he addressed all the bugs (pardon the pun) and continuously updated the app until every nuance was fixed. While Apple still hasn't approved it yet (long story) Ian has been asking for his fans and buyers to provide both written and video testimonials so he may submit those to Apple for reconsideration. Again, all great tools you can integrate with your social media marketing. In the case that you might find yourself stepping away from your Facebook page or computer for extended periods of time (like Ian did above) or even if you just want to focus on your business, there are several scheduling programs out there that allow you to "set and forget" your posts. Meaning, you can automate your entire week's worth of posts to go out whenever you desire. If you're interested in learning how to make your Facebook page really stand out and start working for your business, then feel free to message me. All the best, Michael |
