Bro. Paul West is a genius, there I said it, and it needed to be said. The stupid bean trick – or as it could also be called Bro. Paul’s Opus, is a couple of decades of time tested, audience approved, tremendously entertaining, hard work, in a box. Friends, this is one hell of a magic trick.

The thing I love most about the stupid bean trick (and I love it all) is to the audience this is a pile of junk that can be found in anyone’s kitchen. What seems to start off as a series of comedy gags finishes strong as a gob smacking piece of magic strong enough to close on.

For performing on the streets one of the most popular tricks in the world among street performers to close with is the cups and balls. One of the strongest reasons for this is something most cups workers all ready know, when you put your hat on the table with the cups and loads sitting there people want to come up and check them out. They stick a buck in the hat and squeeze an orange, or look in a cup. Some performers even work it into their hat line to feel free to look at the fruit to make sure it’s real. The stupid bean trick ends with the performer in the same position – not only that but holding a glass to toast the audience!

The beans, the glass, the bowl, and the can, can all be left out on the table along with your hat! All clean as a whistle – Let them look, it’s just brilliant.

On the DVD Paul will walk you through each and every aspect of the performance. All of the finesse, applause points, staging, and theater, are right there. Gang, this is a great trick for the streets, comedy club, and corporate work - just about any where. No angle problems – it is truly a brilliant piece of work.

Bro. Paul has kept this routine close to the vest for a very long time and it is no wonder why, something like this is incredibly precious to a performer. A part of me is shocked that he is tipping it, we should all be thankful. I know I will be performing it and I can really think of no stronger endorsement than that. Simply brilliant, Bro. Paul, thank you!

Wow! Thanks for the great review Danny. I know you'll get some great use out of it. Yes, on the streets is where it was honed, but I've used it on cruise ships, corporate gigs, concerts and festivals it covers each base from parlor to large auditoriums. It travels in a the size of a shoe box and is a visual treat.

So thanks again and let me know how it works for you once you've pounded it into shape. Stay warm up there...

See some other good reviews of this fabulous routine here:

It is unusual for a professional to give away a segment of his working repertory but that is exactly what Bro. Paul has done. It is a true worker! I agree with Danny that this is strong enough for a street performer to close with. It has that WOW factor.

Good stuff this!

I just got this recently and performed it for the first time this weekend. I could not be happier. It fits my style perfectly. This is the best purchases I've made in a long, long time. The DVD is quite complete as to the "how's and why's"....not just the mechanics of the routine. This is a winner and will be in my set for quite some time. Thanks, Bro. Paul!!!

Thanks Patrick...

It's a pleasure to share with the magic community something that I have loved for so long. She'll treat you well and the gimmick will be around for a few hundred years, so sometime somewhere in the way distant future some magi will be looking at your box of stuff and say, "What the hell is this, sure it's got a DVD, but what is a DVD..." Maybe I should have put it in print. lol

In any case, have a ball, and thanks again.

Dude this trick / effect HAS to be your closer and NOT your opener - for the very simple reason it's nigh on impossible to follow it!
I have it and perform only for special gigs. It is a nailed on killer effect if delivered correctly.

I've been doing this for several months now. Still using jelly beans with a gatorade ending. The colors add tremendously. Just wish I could find rubber/plastic jelly beans/skittles/M&Ms. Making it with real candy is a pain because the colors bleed.

If I had to sell all of my magic except for one trick, this would be the keeper.

This trick all boils down to just how good you are at managing your audience.
Brother Paul is a genius when performing this routine.

I performed it at a gig in Spain last year to an outside audience in a beach bar and the audience reaction when I poured the beer into the cocktail glass was genuinely amazing!
Remember... Your audience have absolutely no idea where you are going with this. None. So the 'reveal' if done correctly is nothing short of jaw dropping.
On the DVD Bro. Paul gives you all of the trigger points to involve the audience to get them going and get them involved (I think there is 8 from memory).
For this effect you don't have to be a member of the magic circle to perform it but you do need to be able to project yourself and be in control of your audience.
For me this is the trick / effect where I get the most satisfaction performing it and the audience appear to enjoy it being performed.
Just buy it!

Well this came in on Wed. Very fast shipping I must say. It only took two days. Everthing packed very nice. Everything you need to perform this comes right out of the box. You will need your own wand and table. The props are very well made and very nice I might add. Top dollar was put into these. Also comes with a D.V.D that's gives you everything. The history of the effect and also pointers on perfroming this. Is it worth 250.00 dollars???? Its worth more. Money well spent. Now to put this baby to work. I will not perform this for a few months because I want to give this everything it has to bring to everyone. Not that using any of the props are hard to learn. Very easy I must say but I really want to make this effect my own. Nice job Bro Paul. Smile
