I like the demo. Yes, intro is a little lofty with the music and title effects. I did like the real world demo. Seems very clean and powerful effect. I like how he puts it in the spectator's hand before he reveals the object is in the fob. If the prop is as good as it is claimed to be, examinable and what not I would strongly consider picking this up!

This trick is, in a word, BEAUTIFUL.
I managed to road-test it on Saturday; at a Wedding Reception and at a Birthday Party in the evening (I'm not showboating - I can't remember getting 2 shows in one day for bloody months!). It melts away like an absolute dream. Here's a few words about it, which is difficult without tipping the method, etc. so please bear with me. The Prop: First and foremost, it's a real Audi key - so it is a 100% genuine article. How many times do we see apparent 'real world' props that have so obviously been produced as a magic gimmick (particularly tricks involving keys)? It's clearly been engineered to do the job by a craftsman - and the necessary locking mechanism has had a lot of thought put into it. The reveal is via opening a clipping panel where the battery normally sits. Again, this looks very robust and this key should genuinely give you years of wear. Ease of use: You really cannot miss the necessary load. When something on the key is set (and NO, IT ISN'T the click off panel - that's in place throughout ) it actually guides you into the load. Ingenious thinking Mr. Mackenzie! I was using this in my jacket pocket yesterday but today, practiced loading it in the front pocket of my jeans. Again, you honestly cannot fail to hit the load chamber. No more going to your rear pockets - does anyone really carry their bulky keys there? From now on when working shows, I'll be using my trouser pocket as this is where most people would normally keep them. This point alone looks oh so more natural. Reset: Takes literally a second, and can be performed in your pocket, just by feel. Harry Robson is quickly becoming the 'King of the Instant Reset' product! Seriously though, that's what we need these days. What fits in the key? A ring (and a much larger ring than many reel type ring flights will accommodate), a coin and, as outlined upon the DVD which I will come on to, Colin Mackenzie outlines a beautiful bill switch idea - with the spectators signed note changing from a tenner to a fiver, and then the borrowed note appearing inside the key. Routines: You've probably seen the video clip - I like the idea of changing the borrowed article into a car key battery. Personally, I don't feel that a signed coin is as strong as using a borrowed ring - there isn't that emotional attachment. Just my point of view. Colin outlines how this can be used as a finale to a ring/string routine, he outlines a beautiful sequence with a ring and Sharpie and, as mentioned, I particularly like the idea of incorporating the trick as the finale to a changing bill routine. This is the one that I'll be working on over the next few weeks (using the switched in bill to also work along the lines of Harry's other product - Suspended). I've not tried it yet but I will also work on this being the finale to Harry's Torn & Restored Card. Instructional DVD: This is superbly put together - Colin chats with Harry about his inspiration for the product; and how conventional reel type ring to keys didn't float his boat. I know fully where he's coming from with this. Here's a list of what's covered. Intro, The Gimmick, basic run through, performance subtleties, transit routine + explanation, Li-on routine + explanation. Bonus Section - scouting for rings (some great tips and advice), ring/string routine + explanation, chain load (how to effectively load a borrowed chain/necklace), bill switch load, sharpie interlude + explanation, envelope steal + explanation. Note that Colin doesn't go into depth about the ring/string & bill switch mechanics as he uses routines that are not his to divulge - but they are standard fare for those that need to learn more. Then onto the final section - various false transfers, the rolling transfer, the clip vanish, switching items and a move called 'wipe clean' - great thinking! Another in-depth, well produced video from 'Taste of Magic'. Nothing is hurried, the quality is extremely good and there are lots of close up shots on screen to supplement the real-time performance. Benefits of this version: - It doesn't use a reel - no chance for breaks, jams, etc. - It can be loaded in literally a second - in fact, as you load the item, you are bringing the key from your pocket! - It IS an instant reset. - It does not require a jacket, or any cover, whatsoever. As already mentioned, you really can load it easily from your trouser pocket. - It is more of a utility item than other ring flights - it doesn't just need a ring! - Another very important point, the key is in the spectator's possession BEFORE the ring has apparently vanished (you could of course you this with a ring in hanky gimmick - the key is in the spectators possession whilst the other spectator is still (apparently) holding their ring. You instantly vanish their ring with just a flick of the hank - and go nowhere near the key, which has been in their possession throughout, until you flip it open. Summing up: I really cannot think of one negative with the excellent trick. Oh yeah, one thing actually; the amount of times yesterday various young ladies said "wow, you've got an Audi!" Clearly, that's the current car to be seen in to pull the birds. I didn't have the heart to tell them I've got a 35 year old Merc.......plus, I wanted to keep some degree of street cred! seriously guys, this trick truly is commercial gold dust and is therefore unreservedly recommended. I think Harry has priced this at 60 quid. If you feel that's a tad high, then remember that real car keys cost a bomb - and there really is a lot of work that's gone into key to make it operate so effectively. It's been precision engineered - someone hasn't just ripped the guts out. Quality costs and, as it's something you will USE for years, it will repay you many times over. Rest assured, this isn't something else for the magic drawer. Thanks ever so much for Colin Mackenzie being willing to share this with the magic fraternity, and for Harry releasing yet another masterpiece in his own, inimitable style!

WOW. Great review thank you Merc Man! The reason that the pre-release has been so long is because we underestimated the work that goes into customising these fobs...they are all done by hand by one guy so hats off to his hard work and I am glad to see that it is being appreciated. Thanks again! Keep the reviews coming!

Following Barry's very thorough initial review, I will offer my initial thoughts in case it helps with anyone's buying choice.
The not so good: The postman had obviously had enough of delivering bricks of cards, magic books and other weighty items to my address, so had decided to tap-dance on my package. Result - a DVD case in pieces! Lucky the DVD and gimmick were fine, also - no fault of HR magic as the packaging was 'fit for purpose'. The gimmick will not take larger UK coins such as 2p, 50p or £2s. My wedding band is about 8mm wide and will not fit. You have to get your own battery if you want to do a battery to coin / key transpo. Not really suitable to add on to my everyday keybunch (as I have a car key on it). Okay - no real issues, I'm just trying to provide constructive comments. A US quarter or 10 pence will fit (just), a 1 Euro will fit no problem. The very good indeed: No reel. The loading system is better than I thought, straight away I was able to load accurately and easily. Prop appears to be natural and good quality. Broad range of routines and techniques (appropriate to the prop). Clear instruction. Colin makes sure his Scottish accent does not impact on the teaching. Some people with regional accents forget to slow down. Colin speaks clearly at a very steady pace. No reel (OK, so I said it twice!) The other thoughts: It will fit on Nick Einhorn's Pro Flite (although this is easier to use) which could give a double whammy or an option for a bigger ring or ring with a gem cluster. Ignition will fit on it (use the S-biner for ease). The what will I use it for?: Perhaps with the Nest of Wallets... (not sure yet) Coins (signed). Bill vanish / impossible location. Overall: If the prop lasts (I cannot see why it won't) and if you use it (which I will at every gig), I would say it is good value. Kudos Colin. I had one of Dave Bonsall's brilliant ring flights (which are the best), but got rid of it as I am not a fan of reels. I then got Pro-Flite, but even now, once every now and then, I have to fumble for just a brief moment, plus it doesn't do coins & bills. This really appears to be a multi-purpose worker, which I expect to use at every close up gig from now on. Highly recommended. Charlie |

Thanks for taking the time to review puggo, sorry to hear about the crazed postman!
If it helps any, you can get a big packet of the right size batteries(if your in the uk)from any decent pound shop. I did used to used this in conjunction with Nic's excellent Pro Flight, however I wanted the key and key-ring to look as natural as possible, and really liked the way a traditional key binder allowed you to hand it out at finger tips. Iv been using my prop for a long time now it actually gets better with age. I hope you get a lot from it. If you have any questions feel free to pm me about it. Thanks Col |

The batteries are no problem, I just felt a review is more credible if it is an 'all round' review. While the inner greedy sod might hope that not many use this (its mine, all mine, mwar ha ha!), I would be disappointed if this does not get similar praise to the Nest of Wallets. It is similar in that it is a professional tool for the worker, but that could be used with excellent results by the hobbyiest or someone (from either category) with limited sleight of hand skills. For those sitting on the fence about this I would not. I saw Harry at a lecture a couple of weeks ago and picked up a Fly Drive from him.
I have been doing Ring flight for a long time and for me this solves a problem. At times there would be no rings to borrow so the back up plan was a nest of wallets and use a coin instead, now I can still use a coin and have it appear with my keys just like the ring flight. I now have both on the same key ring so I am covered either way. This will of course work with a ring or a coin it's just the way I'm choosing to use it. For those worried about the vanish of a ring or coin you could easily use a ring or coin hank so they hold onto the item before it goes, this way there is no heat on you when you do the load. The load is very easy and the reset is done one handed as you put the keys away which is very nice. This is one brilliant concept which although very simple plays very well in the real world with great reactions.

It was almost perfect until I read you can only use a coin the size of a 10p coin or less and that you couldn't fit a ring of 8mm in it
