Its a shame larger coins can't be used but overall it looks like a good effect.

How come it took so long for me to hear about this???
Just got one from Harry Robson magic. Took a couple weeks to arrive as I'm in California and he's in England. But Harry shipped it out almost immediately and it arrived in perfect condition. Man oh man, this is truly GREAT!!! Absolutely love it. From the audience perspective it's essentially the same effect as a ring flight, but without any reels or hook-ups. Resets instantly and you can set it up right in front of the specs. This is perfect for casual performers like me who aren't working paid gigs but perform spontaneously when the opportunity presents itself. But equally good for working pros. I may even prefer it to Einhorn's nest of wallets as using your keys is more organic and less "proppy" looking, although the wallets aren't too bad in that regard either. Also similar to the wallets in that you don't have to use a ring, you can used a signed coin. I like the idea of having them hold the coin tightly and you offer your keys as "collateral". Then BAM, they open their hand and they now have the battery to your key fob. Remove the battery compartment and there is their signed coin. That makes sense. Will hold up to about a quarter sized coin, although a quarter is kinda difficult to remove from the fob so I may take a dremel to it and give it just a hair more space, wouldn't be hard to do at all. As easy to do as the wallets too, plus I like the idea that when you hand them your keys no one expects their ring to be inside your keys, what spec would think that? But when you pull out the wallet they are already expecting their ring or coin to be inside. Both have their advantages, not saying one is better, it's up to your personal preference. I like having both props and having choices. You may even want to follow up with one or the other in the same performance. In any case, Fly Drive is definitely a winner in my book. Really well made and thought out, and a very classy looking prop. 10 out of 10! |

Been using this CONSTANTLY since it was released.
Despite the raft of ring-flights being produced, many of which are pretty similar in method, this raises the bar in my view. No set-up, an instant, reliable loading facility and a perfectly normal car key that I carry everywhere. I use it with a borrowed ring - changing the ring to a key battery. I think that the inclusion of the battery adds some 'raison d'être' for bringing the key into play. I'd recomend you buy some - a card of batteries are as cheap as chips (as we say in the UK). I then follow this up with re-vanishing the ring by tying it on string (for safe keeping this time around ); whereupon it's found inside a sealed envelope along with their signed card. Yep, I use a Harry Robson wallet for the envelope load. I work professionally; yet these are two of my regularly used props. I love the fact that they take up little additional space - because you inevitably carry a wallet and your keys with you anyway. I've tried various reel-style ring flights over many years; some hVe been unreliable; others have failed. Fly Drive has become a 100% 'stayer'. Unreservedly recommended - along with anything else that Harry Robson sells!

Merc Man you are spot on.'Fly Drive' is terrific and most practical in every sense of the definition. And it does raise the bar so to speak...spectator's seem thoroughly shocked to see their ring or signed coin appear INSIDE the key.

The problem for 'magicians'(?) is that they generally like the easy-peasy route - so a ring flight with a reel is not so much hassle. But these are the same guys that haven't thought that the RING appearing on your KEYRING isn't anywhere near as effective as a borrowed RING appearing INSIDE a key, attached to your KEYRING. I rest my case old chap!

I just received this and am completely enchanted. Out of fear of wearing out the detachable back, I have just been retrieving vanished objects from the same place they are loaded since no one seems to notice or care. All they remember is that the vanished object reappeared inside the keychain they were holding since the commence of the effect. Thoughts?

This thread has been inactive for a number of years now.
I'm not even sure whether 'Fly Drive' is still sold, as I rarely look on dealers websites or buy anything new. The reason for this post is actually two-fold. Firstly, despite using this prop for a number of years, it is still in 'as new' condition. No parts have worn out or broken. That speaks volumes for the quality of the product. It may have been priced at £50 or £60 - which may have put some people off. However, I'd take a guess that they've spent much more than this throughout the years since; possibly on other items that have only sat in a drawer gathering dust. Secondly, I had a phone call last Monday from a woman who books a number of events at her local golf club. She wants to meet me tonight to run through a few dates from June and check my availability. I asked where she had got my number from; and it was from a business card that I'd given to her, at a party, 5 years ago! I'm old skool and therefore don't use a website and/or (un)social media. Anyway, during conversation, she asked "do you still do that trick whereby you made my friends wedding ring appear inside your car key"? Suffice to say that if she remembers a trick from a few years ago, it clearly had an impact and created a long-lasting impression. That question prompted me to revisit this post and see if anyone else still uses this superb effect?
