Museum shops are another good source for interesting props. Not the best bargains though.

I needed an ungimmicked steel pail with a handle for Miser's Dream (the one I'd been using was dull and heavy in its sound). The "local" magic shop an hour's flight away was quoting me a hefty sum (with promises of a loud crisp sound). I was buying something at the local K-Mart (Australia), when I came across a billy (which is essentially a small metal bucket with a straight cylinder (as opposed to cone) and has a lid and a handle. I quickly took out a coin and dropped it in. It was loud (people looked at me funny in the store), crisp, the perfect size and $6.

Ihop - You are correct sir! I do humbly apologize, I began this thread out of curiosity prior to having 50 posts or knowing of the secret sessions or the Howie Diddits. Must say though, this has all been a fun little romp of learning...

In Australia we have Spotlight and Bunnings, a fabric store and a hardware store respectively. I can see many trips to them in the future.

My wife's work. They get rid of some cool stuff once in a while. Not a reliable source...but cool.
