I was lucky and bought my SFS chain second hand a few years ago. That's always an option too, but it takes some patience to wait for one to become avaialble.

Martin Waring mentioned that you need a table for this effect. Mike Gancia published an excellent routine in his lecture notes called Moments of Magic in which the chain is held in the hands. The routine is called "Off the Table" and was published in 2003. Highly recommended.

I found that inexpensive toilet chain works fine!
Mine has lasted almost 20 years. In my opinion, the best version of the chain game is Gene Maze's Where's the Catch? It was published in Apocalypse , Vol. 14, Number 10. You can easily construct the extra item by drilling three holes into a wooden block and using three pieces of dowling as rods. Harry Lorayne does a brilliant demonstration of this routine in a guest spot on The Magic of Gene Maze. This was released many years ago on vhs (but unfortunately is not available on dvd). |
