I just got my Secrets of Bro John Hamman book and have to say the Gemini Count is the easiest thing to do and is absolutley deceptive. Anyone know of any other good routines using this count? I have also heard alot about the Orion count...where can I find out more about this count?

The Orion Count is a substitute for the Flushtration Count. It was invented by Yves Doumergue of France and is also known as the Salsa Count. It can be found in Dan Garrett's latest lecture notes "2002 The Last Palindrome" as well as the French magazine "Arcane". This information comes from the Dan Garrett lecture notes.

"Jumping Geminii" by Darwin Ortiz, uses this count for an incredible climax to a great packet effect.

If you're into the more visual (as opposed to the textual) side of things, I believe Ammar teaches this on his ( "easy to master" ) Card Miracles video, volume 3.
(I'm pretty sure it's volume 3...) He teaches it in context of Bro John Hamman's "Twins". :bg: Step hen

I believe in the book Las Vegas Kardma Allan Ackerman teaches his variation of the Gemini Count.

The move was described also in Richard's Almanack. Mendoza published a variant he called The Scorpio Count in The Mendoza Portfolio No. 1 and if you want to buy a cartoony type packet effect using the move Emmerson and West's Hamman Eggs is still on the market.
Some of the E & W range are available in pairs with video instruction from Fun. Inc. Hamman Eggs is paired with Cut Throat Casino. The videos sell for around $15. Paul Hallas |

I was going to ask if the site was password protected or if anyone can jump in, but paid a visit instead.
Tom, I must admit,it is a nice site, but I have mixed feelings about sites anyone can go and look at and see sleights described. Others seem to be doing this too.Maybe the sleights should be password protected too. At the end of the day anyone knowledgeable could add sleight descriptions to their web sites. I just wonder what the real benefit of this is. The dealing grip Elmsley count as described is the one I use, but I know it is bad technique used like that, a habit I must break. With the packet in the left hand dealing grip, moving the top card with the thumb and then removing the lower three gets by but is certainly not natural. The better technique is to have them in the right hand to start with and then take each into the dealing grip. Paul Hallas. |

Paul,
Obviously, being a magician myself I don't want all the secrets being exposed. This is why the site can only be found through other magic sites. Rapidmagic.com is not listed on ANY search engines, it can only be found from links on other magic sites, such as allmagic.com, I know that this is not 100% fulproof, but its as near as you are going to get. The aim of the site is to help and instruct people, I remember when I first started out in magic there was no-where I could get help, this is why we set up Rapidmagic. There is another trick on one of Ammar's tapes called the four-10 of clubs trick. It uses the gemini count in it and I highly recommend it.

Here is my wrinkle on the Gemini Count.
I hope I don't get busted for revealing secrets. On the initial lifting a double from the middle, do this: do the first two beats of the Ascanio spread, then take the double out of the middle. No buckle. I like this better. |

I do something similar, Stefan.
I, too, find the buckling business a little arduous. I pull down on the upper-right corner of the packet with my ringht index finger while holing the top and bottom cards in place with my left hand before flipping the double face up on top. Just makes life a little easier for me. :bg:

Tom,
I'm afraid that, even if you didn't submit your site to any search engine, they will find it one day. If there is a link to your site on any indexed web page, risks are real that your site will be indexed too...;( One solution would be to define a robots.txt file in the root directory, with the appropriate parameters asking robots not to index it, but it's not at all guaranteed. Earl. PS: I like your web site too! |

The Gemini Count also can be found on tape#7 of his Advanced Card Control series by Allan Akermann.
