I have read on this forum although I forgot when and where that Tora Magic is an Iranian company even though their address and offices are based in Thailand. Most of what I have read from members is very negative saying basically it is unpatriotic to buy their stuff, they are terrorists, hate Americans, etc., etc.
I am very confused because almost every major magic supplier handles their products. Are they truly an Iranian company and if they are why are they so widely distributed. BTW I have several of their products and like most of them. |

From their website:
TORA MAGIC Co., LTD in Thailand 1039 Silom Sun Square, Silom Soi 21-23, Silom Road., Bangrak, Bangkok 10500, THAILAND. Tel: 0066 22367385 Mobile: 087-0622266 I found this with less than 15 seconds of googling. |

This I know but many many people on this site say the company is Iranian but use the Thai address because it is illegal to buy products directly from Iran. What are the facts?

All of the information (including his linked-in) points to Thailand. If you, in good faith, believing that you are dealing with a Thai company, order from them, it is unlikely that the IRS or US Customs or anyone else (whose job it would have been to stop the stuff you have already ordered from ever reaching you in the first place, right?) will show up at your door and haul you away in chains. If you are feeling especially nervous about being in possession of props potentially from Iran you should burn them, or junk them, and just not order from them again.
For that matter, how sure can you be anything you order on line is coming from where you think it is? This seems like a non-issue, but hey, what do I know? |

Myself, I have nothing against the Iranians. The people don't hate us! They're not terrorists! The government? Well, that's different. There are good people in Iran. I have a good friend Ishmael who is Iranian. I'd punch someone, if they insulted him!
No, nothing wrong with owning a prop made in Iran, if the quality is good! Some honest, hard-working people live there. Yeah, the govt hates America and The West. Hate them, not the people! Doug |

Like Doug, I have a Persian friend who is a proud American, and also very proud of his Persian (Iranian) heritage. I'm guessing politics have victimized and destroyed many of our views of foreign cultures...perhaps Iran has become "a four letter word" due to our media exposure of the extremists, who have been elevated to the status of being the voice of an entire nation. Unfortunate...but, the world we live in. And, probably the topic for another place on the Café.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

So anyway, this seems to be such a non-issue. All of the information about this business indicates that it is a Thai business located in Thailand and operated by a Thai citizen. If you do or don't have a scruple about buying from Iranians or Iraqis or Pakistanis or Israelis or the French it should have ZERO bearing on whether or not you want to order from this fellow. If someone on the board has better information, that this fellow is sailing under a false flag, and there is some shred of proof then it is a different situation. This minor kerfuffle is distracting from the really important issues like whether or not Steven Yuell is a thief or a loon. Please, people, let's get back on point;-).

Wow, I have no idea who Steven Youell is and what he has to do with the original post. I still ask "what are the facts"? Is this an Iranian company with a shell office in Thailand, or is it a Thai company that has the products made in Iran or what? I am not passing judgement I just want to know what the deal is. Thanks.
