Hey everyone,
I'm looking for any good resources for cards to pocket routines. If you know of any good ones, post away. I'd appreciate it. Thanks all.

There are many variations on a routine called Homing Card, which is a classic card to pocket--I think there was recently a few posts on that here which list people's favorite variations on that routine. If you do a search for Homing Card, you'll find a lot. I just use the version I learned in Card College 2 a while ago, with a variation.

There are many types of cards to pocket effects, depending on how many cards and how many pockets, for two variables, and there are others. My favorite classic cards to pocket is Marlo's. It's in Marlo's Magazine Vol. 6 I believe and on DVD. Also I think "30 Years Later" or whatever...his 2nd St. Louis lecture that John Mendoza organized. I think that was the first time I ever saw "Female," my favorite card effect as well.

The Pate Page Cards To Pocket as Pete mentions is very good. It can be found in ROUTINED MANIPULATION FINALE. Written as Pete Biro mentioned by Lewis Ganson Another good one that was used by the late Michael Skinner is Chuck Smith's 10 cards Version. It can be found in his lecture notes WHAT IF? The notes can be hard to find. Derek Dingle's Supersonic Spades To Pocket can be found in the book THE COMPLETE WORKS OF DEREK DINGLE Written by Richard Kaufman.

Perverse Cards to Pocket
I posted this routine to the Perverse Magic thread of the Genii Forum on March 1, 2005. It can still be seen. I learned this effect many years ago from one of my favorite books, "The Royal Road to Card Magic" (although it is written up in many standard books on magic) and made changes to fit my style as follows: Effect 1 The spectators are asked to count out 10 card and give them to you. 2 You explain that by riffling the cards you make them go up your left sleeve, down your right sleeve and into your right trouser pocket. 3 You riffle and produce a card from your right trouser pocket. You do this again and then again. 4 You count and there are 7 cards remaining 5 You riffle again but - no card. You feel something at your left shoulder and reach up for the fourth card. You look very confused. 6 You riffle again and - again no card in the pocket. You reach into your left trouser pocket and there's the card. Again you look confused. 7 You riffle and find the sixth card in the right pocket – where it should be. 8 You say you will do two at a time and riffle twice – but they’re not in your right pocket. You look in left pocket and find number 7 and 8. You scratch your head. 9 You riffle again and look in your left pocket for 9 but it's where it should be - in your right pocket. You nod, pleased. 10 You take the last card and say "Watch" And when you open your hand - your watch is there and you're very confused. You push up left sleeve and there's no watch on your wrist. You put the watch on your wrist. 11 You look for 10 and find it in your rear pocket and quit in frustration. |

There's another great version in John Guastaferro's One Degree called "Homage to Homing."

If you want the resource and the goods on the card to pocket- listen to Peter Biro. Cards are nog really my thing but I've been doing Sankey's card to pocket leading into PaperClipped for years. It is taught well, it's an a pretty easy routine to do (I'm more of a coin guy- classics of magic magician- just know enough card tricks to get by type of guy). Most magicians here are familiar with PaperClipped and probably his card to pocket. Probably the single best Sankey trick there is. So it's worth checking out. If you want a better insight to card to pocket- listen to mr Biro and get the book

Well, I haven't seen Glenn's version,
But you can check out Vanishing Inc's website for a demo of John Guastaferro's Homage To Homing as referenced by Dr Jk. It's available as download I believe, but also in his book wich contains a lot of great effects. -Dennis |

The travelers by Dai Vernon and Homeing card are both in the stars of magic.
I hope this helps.
