Review from My Lovely Assistant:
http://mylovelyassistant.com/products/view/856 Does not look like this is available any longer. New it was $550.00 Everything depends on how used magic is cared for by the previous owners. |

No I don't, I only saw it performed once.
I did a search on the Café and it has never been discussed as far as I can find. |

Hi Reed,
It's important to know that Howie Schwarzman did not construct the equipment himself. He was importing the magic paraphernalia. You can find one of his mirrors at Antique Magic Collector (Terry Harris). Also you can find his mirror on the Best of Magic site. You could contact Howard Schwarzman himself, he is living in Baltimore - Maryland. Please do some research so you will know that there are different types of mirrors, with their own modus operandi. I can't give you a review on this one. Santé |

Addendum.
Reed, go to the site of Abbott's Magic (in Colon - Michigan) Type in the search option: mirror and you will find THREE different options. The choice is yours! Santé John |

Hi Reed
I had the opportunity to see Howie demo this many times at past magic conventions, looked very magical and I did not notice any noise. A couple for sale new here.... http://www.tricksupply.com/product-p/60.945.htm |

If memory serves, Doug Henning performed this version on The Today Show. Bryant Gumbel was the host, so that will tell you just how long ago it was! I remember the prop looked very well made, and his performance was quite impressive. I watched it many times on videotape and don't recall any noise.

Hello,
I own one of the original models that also has the stand with motor to pull the silk thru ....hands off. There's no noise when performing. Done correctly, it's a beautiful illusion. Michael |

For what it's worth, there is one of these available right now in the Estate section of the Hocus Pocus website, and it is on sale for 25% off the regular price through today. I can't vouch for it, but the photo looks nice.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

All of the versions, the Schwarzman import included, can be worked in a parlor venue. That is with spectators about 2 meters away. It has a bad angle and needs the spectators in front of the action.
Mikame made a version of the Schwarzman import that (IMHO) was nicer looking and more compact. It is/was called Mirror-a-Cle. The motor is very quiet. You can see a demo of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbNzkYzaLRM By the way that demo would serve for the demonstration of the Schwartzman import. It is the same basic thing.

It is as good or better. I've played with both. The Mikame version is slightly smaller and works well well in a parlor/small venue setting.
Honestly both will work well in a parlor situation. Both are very well made and both work basically the same. I'd go for the one that has the "look" you want and that you can find available at a price you can afford. The advantage to both the Mikame and the Schwarzman import versions is that you can step away from the prop as the silk is being drawn into and through the mirror. There are other versions for hundreds cheaper that don't have the automatic feature. The silk must be pulled through the mirror by the performer. And example (and only one of many): http://stores.silkmagictricks.com/-strse......odwkoAbA

Richard Gerlitz made a similar item called La Glace Liquide (had a Neo-Classic design). I had the effect, but sold it. It did not use electronics. Instead, it used spring type motor mechanism for secret movement. It was very silent and deceptive (even up close). However, it was expensive and now very hard to find.
