Well, I can't say you all are using the best possible bait here. But there are some undeniable merits too.
Let's let the dust settle and I'll consider a 2nd run. For now though I want to play with my new Dopps!

So this system to supposedly reserve a COA, obviously did NOT work in my case. Have pm'd Dan and Prof BC about this unhappy event!

Whoever now owns #40 (which has been my reserved COA since day #1 of the Dopps series), I would gladly pay you $50.00 if you can work an exchange to get whatever number Alice may be left and allow me to keep my entire collection intact with #40!

The Prof created the template for the books. They are truly works and objects of functional beauty and genius. But... to say that everything B.C. has created is a functional delight is, in my opinion, dishonest. There have been a few failed experiments. And, in my own dealings with the human being, not very fun times when informing him of defective merchandise. No one is a saint. A few certainly seem to be. I appreciate those few. I don't understand why, when I tell some of defects in manufactured product that they respond rudely and defensively. It's disappointing to me. I make this post just to say... every one is human and possibly just might have some flaws.

As a result you slipped through the net and I'm very sorry that has happened. If someone receives a newsletter or e-mail about a product from Lebanon Circle then it is best to contact me back directly at the address the e-mail came from and not via a 3rd party service like a forum. I know that I did reply to your PM but in the whirlwind of orders I simply forgot about it. Had it been a direct e-mail I would've remembered - my fault I know but I'm an artist and admin is not my strong point. I'm sure Prof BC will agree that the COA aspect of the Dopps production is like juggling chainsaws and we get flooded with requests, reservations, hold me a copy for x months etc and sometimes one of you will not get what you asked for (other than a wonderful copy of Doppelganger!). I know I'm going to get ripped apart for this but the COA is only a number at the end of the day. If never plan to sell your collection what does it matter, and even if you do sell them I doubt the end buyer will be bothered if they are not all the same COA. They are buying the product and not the slip of paper with a number on it. I'm an avid collector of many things and I've never cared what number I receive as long as I get one. Just my opinion which will be widely poo pooed, but life is too short to get upset about a number. I'm sure Prof BC would agree that if we knew in advance what problems numbered COAs introduced due to people chasing the same numbers he would have just supplied unnumbered COAs. Again, my apologies Bill. Darkly Dan |

Hi Bill:
I have sent you a PM and an email. All has been sorted out since my first learning of the issue late last night. I appreciate that CoA numbers *are* important to collectors, and I bend every effort to keep numbers with owners. This, I hope, will prove a case in point. BC

Thanks Dan and Prof BC for another Dopps. I appreciate the high level of customer service you each have provided.
Best I can tell there are 26 sets of same COA's and I am unable to determine how many of these may be "complete" sets to include the additional associated items. One day the COA's may represent an appreciable value. Thanks again, Craig |

It took a great deal of time finding the right pairing, but I agree that the symbiosis works most agreeably. I develop the workings, devise the effects, source the literary work, digitize it, edit it, code it, do all the layout and gatherings, develop the signatures, print the original then send it off to the printer to do the print run from that original. From there it goes to my bookbinder, who uses those signatures to do an utterly brilliant job of sewing the quires and fixing them in their cases (and you are absolutely right to doff your cap, Reese, for he truly is a master, old-world artisan to whom I owe much). He then returns the finished books to me for ageing, which I do, unassisted, cover-by-cover and page-by-page for between 17,500 to 40,000 pages. I then write the performance manual. It is all quite a long, expensive and labourious process, and I am genuinely gratified by your appreciation. Thank you. BC

When does Prof BC find time to sleep while teaching, doing other published works related to his university program, attending events such as ECSS, AND creating such strong, unique handmade items? I got tired just typing this sentence.

OMG Prof BC and Dan are both superb and have solved this issue. I regret that I as an obsessive collector made an issue of the #40, but it was important to me and even more important that all of them were not sold and I was locked out. Prof BC and Dan go above and beyond, always...I am super indebted and loyal customer devoted for life!!! Thanks so much!!

Much credit to the truly understanding buyer who agreed to surrender #40 to this good cause and take a different number. Thanks to him especially. Kindness abounds!

Oh well, feels so empty to read your posts; you blessed ones who own some Doppelgänger - even a tiny one.
When Alice was relased I was broke with no change to make order - That was a hard day. But in same time I was happy because that was a Victory of creativity, hard work and artistry! So congratulations to PROFBC and Lebanon Circle - You are living proof that there is still hope in this strange world called planet Earth But then: If you are some kind of hypnotist/mentalist/bizarrist like me who dreams a show with dopp effect what can I do? I see just Sold out- badges and eBay is empty. So is there any other ways to start practise Doppelgänger -effect (Definitely with books) than wait another year and hope that I have enought bucks in that D-day when (hopefully) next Dopps Book(s) will materialize? Any cue? Please? Anyone? Kind regards G

Hey there G,
Do not despair. Dopps do come up on the secondary market here on The Café with some degree of frequency. You can post (once you have 50 posts) in the section that will become visible to you then. Get your 50 legitimate posts under your belt and then you will be able to monitor when they do come up for sale. A full set was just sold within this month, so you can begin saving now. All the best, David |

G-Force,
Start saving your pennies now. Bizzare magick is in an era of creative prosperity, which means inevitably somebody is going to develop an effect or prop that you will feel compelled to purchase. As you are now aware, the distinguishing feature of bizarre magick is its focus on captivating storytelling and unusual items. Consequently, the art of performing outstanding bizarre magic requires an intellectual and financial investment beyond that of conventional magic. As you become familiar with the various bizarre magic creators, you will begin to key into their project development cycles. By subscribing to the forums and keeping abreast their progress, you can successfully forecast and budget enough cash for when a product's release date arrives. In the meantime, work on your storytelling. The best prop in the world is uninteresting in the hands of someone who has not taken the time to craft a story for it. The creators who sell their magic to you are often kind enough to supply you with stories of their own, but if you want to stand out amongst your peers, you need to generate some quality "aftermarket" routines of your own. In a nutshell, work on your stories, follow the artists, budget accordingly, and you will soon have an envious collection of bizarre magic - that you can actually go out into public and perform well with.

Thank you for your wise words David and Sir
And that storytelling thing is important - even in my past NLP-days the wisest advice I get was "Create and tell good stories"! So thank you again - now I know what to do while waiting: Save enought money and think and write stories - and make 'em good and interesting Cheers Edit// Thank you Vic - I'm going to enjoy
