Hope you'll get that leg back on track, Simon. Ouch. Glad to hear you're on the mend. Take care.

Thanks guys ... it's all coming along slowly but these things do take time and effort to get over. To be honest a lot of of the therapy is more painful than when I broke the darned leg in three places! (please don't pounce in with the old Tommy Cooper joke of 'well don't go to those places' LOL)
I'm up a bit on a walking frame and use a wheel chair too. Ah well at least I might get a decent routine out of all of this malarky as there are some brilliantly eccentric folks here in the nursing center! Once again thanks for all the kind thoughts and comments! Best as ever, Long John Simon... 'ARGH Me Hearties'! |

On the bright side, Simon: you can finally perfect "Minty and More," your Dad no longer thinks that he might have arrested me, and as long as you have access to titanium rod implantation: well, why stop with the leg?

Thanks Guys,
Randino I am currently working on broken and restored titanium rod of mystery combined with a minty and more type of reveal at the end. The use of the little known Cardini Cabbage and Carrot misdirection during the initial wombat surprise (think about Marlo's T&R dromedary camel and I think you'll get the idea)makes the rod switch much smoother and elimates the Vernon 'sqelch' moment. It should startle all but the most discerning of fruit flies, newts and, indeed, wombles! Tom I remember the wheel chair incident of which you speak.. pretty ... no - hilarious ... yep! Thanks angelo and landmark ... it's just taking it as you can ... slow but steady ... gawd,I may have to change my name to Head Tortoise! Best to all, Simon PS - Randy there's still time for you to be arrested so atart stocking up on those jolly useful PBS cards! Simon |

Hi Guys,
Just a quick update for those who care! Progress is coming along very slowly and I'm now kinda walking a bit with a walking frame with a big minder walking beside me ready to catch me should I stumble or trip. Not much but a very significant land mark moment for me. Next aim is to walk smoothly on the walker in order to be able to move on to crutches and then a walking cane. Fingers crossed I can then work towards losing the cane! All the sutures in the leg have now been removed so that's helped to losen it up a lot more. Anyways nothing negative ... all is moving forward to plan! All the messages and cards etc(including stuff from the gang here) are incredibly helpful and supportive. I's very humbling to know that so many folks care so much and I can't thank you enough for helping to keep my spirits up! Love and very best of wishes to all! Simon PS - If FISM every has a wheelchair category I could be a shoe in for first place! lol |

For any interested, I was talking to Simon the other day, and the Head Lemming is his feisty self. Still unknown when he'll get home, it was a nasty break.

Simon,
I had my hip replaced back back in April, thank god there were plenty of folks to help out while I was on the mend. Sure you feel the same way.

Motown,
In the therapy home I'm in now there are a few folks who've had hip and/or knee replacements. It doesn't look like a fun recovery so I hope yours wasn't too bad for you! Funny how they don't show all the painful stuff folks have to go through on the adverts pushing that stuff huh? LOL I have a few friends helping out with errands and stuff like banking, bills etc which is absolutely brilliant of them. I really don't know how I'll be able to re-pay their kindness! Random acts of kindness and caring really do make all the difference. A simple short phone call or message can make a crappy day so much brighter. BIG thanks to all who've done anything even if it is just a caring thought! Tom it takes more than this to de-feist me mate! Hamsters Ahoy! Simon |

Simon,
Your accident is precisely the reason why I always get nervous wishing anyone to "break a leg" shortly before an impending performance. That said, I hope that you are well on the mend and able to move through the pain and the repetitive (and boring?) physical exercises required during the recovery and physical therapy process. You're correct..the ads do not alert you to all the painful stuff you have to go through in such procedures and recovery periods. However, if you keep at it, you'll be back on your pro UK soccer team in no time. Best, Mike P.S. I hope to meet you in Portland Oregon next year at the Magic Jam.

Simon, I'll be in NYC for the 1st of the year. When will you be out? I'm planning a trip to Fantasma and would love to run into you there. If you aren't out and about maybe we can swing by the hospital for some fun and sneak you in some real food haha.
I go to school for Physical Therapist Assisting and know how hard it is, glad you are doing well and the spirits are high! Keep going! Let me know if you need anything! Shawn |

Thanks all ... your heartfealt messages really do mean a lot to me!
Turk yep I'll be at the Portland conventionand hopefully be ambulatory by then. I look forward to meeting you there! Smullins I'm hoping to be out by then but, if not I can tell you where the nursing home is so you could pop by for a visit. Just remind me a bit nearer the time! I don't go to Fantasma much these days (so much to do, so little time!)but, assuming I am up and about, I'm sure we can find a place to meet up. Tomsk my ability at soccer is second only to my ability at championship knitting ... i.e useless(especially at the moment!) All the very best to all, Legs Lovell (thewell known limping gangster!) |

Mr Lovell you have been a great inspiration to me, and I regret that it is with an unfortunate occasion that I let you know how much you have impacted my career and my life.
I have just signed up for the Café only to find news of your misfortune. I wish you all the best, get well soon and offer humble gratitude for the inspiration I have gained from your work. |
