Review:
This is an ingenious way for you audience to watch you reveal anyone's PIN Number (duh). There is a genre of ruses, dodges and methods that allow this "illusion". Without being specific of the methodology, this is an extension and enhancement of a commonly known idea. I think it is a quite clever solution. One will have to be careful regarding whom to utilize as the participant of this routine. But, with wise selection and with moderate level audience participant management, I can see this being a quiet effective demonstration. To be honest, the final nuance that allows this to work would have fooled me. Well done. |

Hey guys,
I was lucky enough to get a copy of Michaels OMG. The ebook is 14 pages long, and gets down to the point in what you need to know to perform this. I have several methods for revealing the PIN of an unknown spectator, but this, as Waters, said above, is an enhancement of an old idea, and a very good one I may add. Some people will not want to try it, but I think this would work great.....I am going to try it.....plus you don't need many props, all props you can find at your stationary store, if not you may already have them at home. The method is clear, and everything comes down to you actually going out and using this. Thanks Michael Alex Alejandro

To be honest, the final nuance that allows this to work would have fooled me.  Well done. Alex Alejandro This is a well written 14 page E book by Michael Clark. The two quick reviews above I totally agree with and are accurate. First thing, there are no props or gimmicks needed or used. This is clean, very clean and is best suited for stage or parlour work. You will need a whiteboard, size dependent on setting but small enough to manage and hold, an erasable marking pen and paper. Michael gives his handling and the method, why this works and the nuances to make this a brain melt for the audience. This is a quick read, without fluff or wasted words. One can be practicing this within minutes of reading this. It is that clear. If you think you know the method, you may know a part of it. If I were to see this live, I would be fooled, fooled badly. I must say that this is not going to be for everyone but them again, not much will ever be for everyone. Those in the field of mentalism, performers who like these tyoe of audience effects, effects where the audience is involved from stat to finish, then this is for you. There is management involved, not self working but not hard. This effects starts clean and ends clean, something I prefer. Recommended. |

I was lucky to get a review copy and I really, really like the boldness and sneakiness of everything. Yes, it's bold, but even if you're not a fan of such stuff, you will seriously think about trying this out. I definitely will! Just thinking about the "OMG moment" makes me all giggly inside. And, I love the final "kicker" which just happens at the right time to melt everyone's brains.

I received a review copy but I must admit this was not for me. I'm not a particular fan of this method because there is no effect for the spectator who's pin you reveal. If you like this particular bold method then this is a clever idea and a well thought out routine but for me I prefer Michael Murray's ATM which is a similar effect where the spectator in question does receive an effect albeit different from the one the audience receive.
If you are comfortable with this type of bold method and have the spectator management skills to pull it off then you do get a very direct effect but for me this particular type of approach has more negatives than positives. Likewise if I were ever going to use this particular method for an effect I would want more control over spectator selection because random selection increases the risk of getting a non compliant spectator. This of course is a personal opinion as many people have used this type of approach to very good effect. Mark |

Mark,
I wholehearted agree with esteeming Michael Murray's effect. It is a fantastic routine. You are also right is saying that approval of this routine will hinge on the type of ruses you are willing to employ. However, I am okay with giving a participant an experience (if not an effect), even if it is not the one the audience thinks. I am including some thoughts about these types of ideas in my forthcoming release. Your opinion is certainly fair and reasonable. I wish more threads included posts like yours. Thanks for taking the time to add a divergent view. Best Regards, Sean |

Yes while I personally am not a fan of this particular method it is certainly a valid method and has been used in many popular effects including a particularly well known and hilarious comedy effect that has been performed by some top class performers.
If used correctly by a skilled performer it does indeed give the spectator an experience and even a sense of being somewhat special. Which brings me to something else I maybe should have mentioned in my review, the method is simple but that shouldn't be mistaken for easy. Despite the fact that this could be performed within 5 minutes of reading the book this probably is more suited to an experienced performer both for the chops to use this method well and the spectator management skills required to make it go without any hitches. First I would like to say a HUGE thank you for sending this to me.
Unfortunately I do not think it would be fair for me to pass any judgement on this. The reason being, I know I will never try this as I do not do stage shows. I have Michael Murray's ATM, also Peter Turners methods from 'The Devil In Disguise' all of which are very good. I also have the Pro version of 'iunlockyourmind' a fantastic iPhone app by Myke Phillips and Salah Aazadine............ perfect for 'the long con'. O.M.G. does read as extremely bold ......... sadly just not something I think I could pull off. Regards, Ian. |

Thanks for the mentions guys. For obvious reasons I was keen to get a copy of this from Michael so what are my thoughts...
I really enjoyed the thinking behind this. The methodology behind this is something that I have used myself in several forms and it really works well. In short I know that people will have fun using this. The approach is very bold, but above all has been well thought out . On the selection process I would agree with Mark, to make this work successfully it does help to have the right type of spectator and for that reason I would always suggest making the choice personally. I you do this right then the sincere reaction will overcome any suspicion of a stooge. I personally prefer to work informally for small groups and so the use of a stooge would never be called into question. As I mentioned to Michael in an email I would also follow this effect up with another using the same spectator the reasons for this will be evident to those who have it. All in all I really enjoyed the thinking and will certainly give this a whirl. Keep up the good thinking Michael
As a mentalist you must always ask yourself what if! And throughout your life you should seek to ask and answer this question over and over again, only then will your wildest dreams become a reality!

Whilst I won't use this myself I have sent Michael a suggestion for a slight tweak and also a way to have more control over spectator selection while still using the ball to select them at random. More than happy to share these ideas via pm with those who have posted reviews. For future owners I'm sure Michael will include my suggestions in the PDF if he thinks they are worthy of inclusion.

I have been really busy the last couple of days and have just sat down and read O.M.G.
As I started reading, I immediately thought of the way that I would do this and was surprised to find out that I was thinking WAY too hard. Talk about the K.I.S.S principal in action..... The method is a very old gag that, in this case, has been given a new refreshing make over. What really sells this routine is the very last thing that the performer does. This little action should hit hard and completely dumbfound on lookers. The ending adds greatly to the overall routine and in my opinion makes this a really nice addition to anyone's act. I have already been thinking of other ways to use this idea of OMG, and I have what I think would be a cool comedy routine. I can see myself using the idea behind OMG to create a more personal fun routine that fits my style of performing. Ever though this may be part of an older bit, it will play well as written. Once the main idea is known, then just think of other ways to use this principal and have fun with it. If something can get me to think of other ways to use an idea, I always felt that I have gotten my money's worth. OMG has me thinking and really is a nice, easy and fun routine to try. Best Ray |
