Jay Sankey is coming out with a new effect on the 17th. I haven't gotten my hands on it yet, but I must admit that the demo video looks pretty compelling
Once I get them in, I will do an official review on it

I wonder if this version is the same as the one Lu Chen performed here...

I had the Lu Chen version prob 15-20 years ago. Never used it but loved the look of it. Can't remember who released it back then or who originated it. The way the sliding looks in Sankey's demo, it appears to be a different gimmick than the one in the version I had and the version Chen used. Obviously you have to ring in and ditch the gaff. So don't be expecting the beginning and ending of the routine to look as good as Chen's did.

I usually love Sankey's stuff, but the demo leaves something to be desired. I mean the sliding doesn't seem to cover a large area of the bill. I guess I'm spoiled by Matt Johnson's melt and a Michael Close effect (name escapes me) with a toothpick and a bill.
The Close effect had the word Rubik's in it. Somebody jog my memory, please. I actually made the effect up and used it. It's in my drawer. Anyway, in the two effects I mentioned, you can slide the object through the bill with a "knife through butter" feel. The video for "Punkture" does not look that smooth. Perhaps it's just a poor video and the video does not do the effect justice as in how it looks in real life?
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

(By "real life", I mean actual performance.)

Rubik's Dollar Bill I believe. One of my favorite Close effects. Also love Melt. In the version of the pins that I had, the pin could move freely around the card just as in the Chen version. Not sure if Sankey's version is that free but the demo did look a tad cramped.

That's precisely what I was wanting to say. Thank-you!
So I was wondering if in actual performance it looks that cramped. If you can move the pin more freely around the bill, then it's got my attention. If not, the "cramped" feel takes away from the magical feel of it, in my opinion.

I believe Lu Chen was performing "Point Of No Return" by David Harkey.

I think this looks great. You can see the pin coming through the bill. I think this will blow people's minds.

Big fan of Sankey's. He's In a Flash was a reputation maker for me for years. That said, some of his later creations have been a little disapointing. I'd love to see this performed live before I make the purchase. If it is released on the 17th Jan, he'll have it on show at Blackpools convention as he's attending this year.

Mine shipped today from MJM Magic and I should have it in my hands on Monday to play with! I had a bunch of reward points saved up over there, so I got it for only $20.00 with shipping included. Cha-ching! I will do my best to post a review once I have time to check it out.

I've just watched the DVD on this one and I must say Jay has done a great job on this one.
When I watched the trailer I thought no way there must be something going on that's not shown! I do like Jay's stuff so took a punt and got some of these in on todays order hoping this was going to be good. To my surprise the effect does look as shown and you can hand it out right away as shown. There is nothing really complicated here and it won't take you long to get this down so you can do it. If you like the look of the effect get it it's not hard, for me it's most likely going to be used with my business cards, but the money version is also great. Good teaching on the DVD from Jay as well make this a nice complete package, the gimmick is supplied ready to go but you will need to buy more pins if you want to give them out to keep but they are cheap enough and easy to find.

So can I move the pen around then hand it to them with the pen through the bill with no switch?

There is obviously something involved here as it's not real magic, I can't really expand in an open forum. I can say the moves are very well motivated and well covered in the context of the routine. As I said in my comment above how it looks in the demo is how it looks when you do it and as you can see there is no obvious switching or switching action going on.
