The one I use at gigs is still the SAW, though I don't carry it everyday.

When two magnets with unlike poles stick together, it is difficult to pull them apart easily. However it becomes easy to separate them if they are made to slide off. Hence for such application I would suggest a slightly stronger magnet (of adequate strength) with a simple ferromagnetic shim (say made from a lid of a tin can). This combination makes it easy to pull them apart (not by sliding) but at the same time gives you adequate adhesion. Also in such a Magnet-n-Tin combination, the contact surface area plays a big role with regards to magnetic adhesion. There is a good relationship between the thickness of a magnet and the contact surface area. The same strength of adhesion can be achieved in two ways; by either using a thicker magnet (i.e. more strength) with a smaller contact surface area or by using a thinner magnet (less strength) with a larger contact surface area. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Ustaad, that is good info. So far the 2 small discs are working pretty well, but for future needs I'll most definitely heed your advice.
Stunninger - Lol, so we've devoted a thread to upgrades and advanced handlings for a wallet that none of us are likely to use in performance. Fairly standard for the field I guess...

How they work, how they may be used for different effects, how they may be improved upon, searching for a better solution... For many effects that can be achieved with a wallet, I actually prefer not using a wallet at all, but an index card and an envelope, or just a small stack of business cards. Yet, I still love wallets. |

I used the complete peek wallet this weekend at a conference at pga resort. It was a resounding success. I've never used anything better or more natural. It slips into your front pants pocket with license credit cards biz cards ready to boogie.

Okay you guys - I'm sold on this wallet, even potentially in my front pocket (thanks John for the suggestion). Now I'm wondering about the magnets. I can see a "little give" to flick open while still keeping it closed can be hugely beneficial. I may be addicted to wallets. Or leather. I also carry Instagrab around with me now, too.
Luckily I'm addicted to good looks because I carry my face with me everywhere I go too. (Hey-ohhh!) |

I found they do so much I never used them as there was too much distraction. With the cpw I am limited to doing one thing, Peek. Perhaps carry a few items as well but not many. And with the button thing you can safely carry credit cards and license. |

I've noticed this wallet holds a rubber banded stack of double blank cards reasonably well in the snap side. I'm going to bring this to my next close up gig where for holding by stack of blanks. I'll be working from a table so pocket space is not an issue.
I really like the p**k - especially Stunninger's version. I would LOVE to have this peek built into a slightly smaller card case. I might have to see about getting one made....

I slipped in a thin leather external credit card/license wallet that holds 4 credit cards and my license. I keep it in the cash section.
It would be nice to have had this thin credit card/license holder stitched in the middle of the wallet. But this wallet is perfect the way it is. The button secures your biz cards in and the peek is unique. |

So what size... Oh never mind I have a couple of ideas that I think will work well. Fit in a shirt pocket... Hold about a dozen bizz cards and maybe a small pen...

I'd think about 3 1/4 x 4 would be perfect, but will - of course - defer to your judgment.
