The first time I saw him was at FISM 1976 in Vienna. (his artist name then was "Fabian" and he won the 2nd prize in Close Up magic).
He was a very "aimable" man.
I pray for him and Rachel.

I was devasted too by this news. Aldo and Rachel have brought so much joy through their magic and its a shame if it has to end this way. My thoughts and prayers go out to them in this time of need.

I had recently wrote Aldo asking him to do a DVD on Si Stebbin effects. He responded almost immediately and in his gracious manner informed me he like the idea and in fact was working a such a DVD. What a nice, kind man.

Terrible news. He brought a lot of happiness to people around the world. Let's support Rachel however we can.

The last time I saw Aldo and Rachel was in October. Making jokes, loving life. It is so sad...

Aldo was the first "name" in the magic community to take an interest in me and recognize my potential. In the mid 90s when he was living in the LA area, I went down for a couple of weeks to take lessons from him. Not only would he not accept my money, but he gave me one of each of every book, trick, and video he had produced--and Aldo was a VERY prolific creator, so I had quite a collection. He wrote the forward to my "Great Scott! It's Magic!" book trilogy, and he came to visit and lecture in my home multiple times. He introduced me to many other "names" in magic and helped me get my foot in the door lecturing at magic clubs and conventions.

Aldo is not perfect by any means (which of us is?) but he was gregarious and friendly, and not just to the famous. Every time I visited the Magic Castle in Hollywood with him, Aldo would greet every hostess, bartender, and waiter by name with the same enthusiasm as he did the big-name magicians. The staff at the Castle lit up when they saw him coming. He was a friend, teacher, and mentor to me, a guy from Idaho who was a total unknown in the magic community. I love him, and I will miss him terribly.

I would GREATLY appreciate your prayers for Aldo and Rachel.
