Here's the deal, I really want to do cards across,
here's the classic excuse, I have small hands. Don't get me wrong I can palm cards, I do cards to pocket I haven't been caught yet. when I palm a card it takes up my entire hand, because of this I have to curve my hand more than guys with bigger hands, it's just impossible for me to get a more natural curve of the hand while palming, the reason I get away with cards to pocket, is because it has some good misdirection and because of the routining you don't have to palm the cards very long. Now I've seen bill malone's cards across, mel mellers, mac king and several others, I realise with misdirection you can get away with a lot, but what they all have in common is that you basically have to palm cards during the second counting procedure. the best I've seen yet is mel mellers his palmed hand is hidden by his body, but not hidden towards the two specs on stage. Any tips or ideas on this? |

Trevor Lewis had a cards across where there was no palming.. Just strong misdirection and timing with a relatively easy move.
I'm not sure where it is published.. As I learned it in a live lecture he did. Might be worth researching though. |

Shrink the deck from regular size to a mini size. Now that you have the mini deck, you can do a series of effects with the mini cards that require palming. When finished, restore the deck to full size and continue with tricks that do not require palming. Methods of shrinking a deck of cards can be found in the works of Tommy Wonder and others. It can also be part of a diminishing cards routine but you just stop when you have diminished the cards to mini card size and continue with your palming tricks. You can also just start with mini cards, do the palming tricks, and then enlarge the cards to regular size - skipping the shrinking part. The question is, can you do a cards across with a mini deck?

Paul Harris has an interesting "Vegas " count used in a C. A.
Also you may find in time you can use poker size cards. Till then bridge down or as George mentioned use something like biz cards or something you are connected with. Journaling daily or consistently may help this and all your comedy. It did mine. Side note my hands match my 5' 5" stature. Harris Still too old to know it all

I'm not sure it's very logical to shrink the deck.
There is no reason what-so-ever to be using a deck of cards for this effect. If you use smaller card items you may find a much more interesting presentation by using something out of the ordinary. Scratch cards, Flyers, Business cards, laundry tickets, IOU's etc etc |

Never been caught? You don't really learn about timing and misdirection until you have been caught a couple of times.
Heba Haba had hands the size of a small child and was probably the best at playing cards I have ever seen. Tips? Just keep doing it and know you will be caught.

Glad I'm in heba hens good small hand company.
With coins, I started with USA quarters. Since 76 I have gone in two directions. One to routines with dimes and pennies, the other to Morgan old dollars. Speaking of "funny" , it works for me to acknowledge both my hair and height. And related to tally cards. When I worked the west coast they were the card flavor of the decade. In the Midwest Bikes seem to be the cards of choice.

Or you could use a cop. That's what I use instead of a classic palm. Just requires a bit of stage management.

What about doing bills across? They fold in half easier. Check out some bills across routines.
