Im trying to find out what a puzzle was called where a specator held the flap cut into a middle of a face down playing card and then when you folded the card and opened it up again the card was now face up.

can anyone help?

I believe you are talking about the trapdoor card!
Robert neale shows it in his DVD. Three is allo à Nice version with a one dollar Bill!
