Hey guys, I wanted to see where you get your wallets for packet tricks. I have a couple of packet tricks, but no wallets to put them in. I actually ordered a SECOND Color Monte JUST for the wallet it comes with. I can store two packet tricks in that wallet....$7.00 dollars for another color monte, but an AWESOME two packet wallet. What do you guys suggest?

Some online sources from Google:
http://www.tricksupply.com/product-p/hr00550.htm http://www.elmwoodmagic.com/shop/vinyl-card-wallet-5-pack/ http://www.ecrater.com/p/6326877/card-wa......11034499 These work pretty well and hold several packets. There are seven separated areas and it can hold about 35 cards in total: http://www.alumawalletxl.com/ Be sure to get the "XL" size. I've read that they're not super durable, that the hinges give out, but I'm wondering if that's if worn in a back pocket (sat on) or otherwise not so gently handled? For organizing packet tricks, something like this works pretty well: http://www.wilsonsleather.com/search.do?query=45731 All the slots make it easy to directly access any given trick. Plan on using only every 2nd or third slot though -- otherwise it'll get too thick to close. For longer term "storage", the sleeves and plastic boxes used for baseball cards work well and are very inexpensive. |

I've had fun recently making my own.
I make them out of good ol' duct tape. To my surprise, turns out it very well may be the most well-liked item I've ever made. The coolness factor is off the charts! I know, I know, it sounds tacky and cheap. But it's all the rage these days and believe me, people are totally fascinated by it. It's "shabby chic" and really serves as a great attention getter. The one side downside is I have found that some people are more interested in the wallet than in the magic. I made a smaller size switch wallet, like a "W" style wallet in order to help clean up a packet trick I like a lot. I sometimes will carry this wallet sticking up out of my shirt breast pocket and folks almost always ask about it. Haven't had it long enough to judge how well it will last over the long-term, but so far it has held up really well. I quickly I realized that I needed to make a matching wallet that could be examined because everyone wanted to see it up close and check it out, but not because they suspected it was gimmicked in any way, they just wanted to see if it was really duct tape and how it was made. So now I begin and end with the real wallet and everything can be examined and I'm left totally clean. So without intending to, I actually improved the trick as well. The amount of different colors and styles of duct tape these days is astounding. I just bought some zebra print tape I am going to use to make a larger custom "card to wallet" wallet out of. Now I'm not a working pro, I only perform for friends and colleagues, but you guys saying that you could never use something like this while wearing your fancy designer suits, well I'd say you may be surprised. People are inherently intrigued by things you made yourself and in my experience so far it seems that the more affluent a person is, the more likely they are to say "I want a wallet like that". Anyway, I've been real happy with it. I'm new at including photos in posts but I will try it here. http://s1008.photobucket.com/user/wasmagic/library/ I tried to include 3 pics of the switch wallet. Hopefully they will show up correctly. For my first attempt at making any kind of wallet I thought it turned out better than I expected. It is pretty darn deceptive and I even put a bill compartment in it, originally because I thought it would help hide the flap but I don't think it matters much in that regard so now I carry other tricks like Pocket Space Plus in there sometimes. The clear sections for holding the cards in place inside the wallet is made out of packing tape, with the sticky sides stuck face to face. |

I use the Jerry O'Connell Single Bi-Fold Holder for holding 2 packet tricks (currently Spin Doctor and Nothing but the Truth) I used to use his Double Bi Fold Holder but it's a bit chunky.

I've used these small portrait holders found at Longs Drugs and Walgreens? They hold two packet tricks fairly nice. Cheap and easy.

When you guys are not carrying your packet tricks on you....do you still keep the cards in the plastic or leave the cards out of the plastic....I found that if I leave my cards in the plastic night after night...then they will have a slight bend in them when I take them out for use...Does anybody else run into bent cards after leaving them in their plastic wallet homes for too long???

I found when I leave the cards in their plastic wallet too long they start sticking to each other (which I think is from the moisture/sweat on the cards from using them). I keep them in those brown paper pay envelopes as it helps with air circulation and keeps them in good condition.

Ogon aluminum wallet but make sure you look at the dimensions. You want the larger one. It has 7 pockets. The smaller one is only big enough for credit cards. I put a small post-it on the inside to chart where each trick is stored. They're a little pricy but I think it's worth it.
Here are some nice ones from Penguin. They are the right size and I've never had a problem with the cards sticking to becoming bent. http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/447

As many packet tricks are gaffed or rely on some cards facing different ways in the initial setup, you can't just thumb through a stack of them to pull out the needed few. |

Jeffery,
The cheap card wallets on Penguin's site used to come with a couple of gaff cards which made them a steal at $.94 cents. I usually just order 5 at a time. |
