I have the laminated version of Gypsy's Cruse, but I want to present an older, more authentic look. Where can I get a non-laminated version?
Thanks, David |

I have a very old 70s version that's not laminated, pm me if you are interested.

Just checked out Card Shark's site. Now I'm on a quest to find the perfect cards for Gypsy Monte!

Thanks, George. These older cards look so much better and handle so much better than the laminated ones. I know that a lot of more seasoned folks are tired of this routine, but it's fresh for me and I enjoy the story-telling context. I've elaborated the presentation by cutting the center out of an old book, so that the cards come from a hiding place. I also purchased some old document repros and wrapped the cards in the Gettysburg Address, which I pass off as my ancestor's confessional letter. I like intimate close-up settings, so this completes a little gem of a routine that works for me just great. David

What do the cards look like?

They are old looking, they have no numbers or letters on them. They are also larger, more like tarot cards.

Ron's handling is sold in one of his many excellent booklets. There are dealers who sell the cards with a routine, but not Ron's.

The routine that came with my 70s version was by Peter Kane.

Here's a version of the handling that comes with the deck. It's straight forward. I don't know that you have to do the extra business in Bauer's version. I don't like the last line of the original routine: "Never turn your back on a gypsy". I do like substituting a ring for the coin.

Yes, that's exactly the routine that came with it. These days as you say the last line is'nt very PC.
