I have found a Heaven and Hell fold that requires just one cut to get the cross and the word "'HELL". The source has other 1-cut folds.
http://martindemaine.org/papers/FoldCut_G4G5/paper.pdf My problem is that I don't know how to turn that design into folds. MY guess is that one need to perform the folds in a certain sequence (I found only 3 folds that I could do). Can any one help? Thanks; John

After some more fiddling, I think I figured it out - After the "symmetry" fold, many of the folds need to be created by "pinching" the appropriate section, not a complete fold, initially.
Once I thus initiated each fold, the whole thing could be coax'd into a shape that has a line for the single cut. Thanks for all your help John
