As I opened up my email this morning, I received an early ticket sales notification from the Society for the Performing Arts - Houston for The Illusionists: Witness the Impossible. Imaging my suprise when I recognize someone on the promo....our own Andrew Basso!
It appears that The Illusionists Live will be running for a brief stint on Broadway, a North American tour, and a potential World tour. http://www.theillusionistslive.com/ Congratulations on the new tour, Andrew. Let me know when you are to arrive in Houston. - Doc Click here to view attached image. |

Aw man.... No Los Angeles show. Closest is San Jose, a seven hour drive. Sorry Andrew. Let me know if you get to L.A.

Andrew kindly got me 2 tickets for one of the London shows. Best seats in the house, and on the night it was filmed for TV. A great show and his full view Water Torture is spectacular! We met briefly after the show, and I invited him and a couple of the other Illusionists for an evening at The Magic Circle, the following evening. His first visit, and we all had a great time. If you can get to see this show, it is the best magic show you will see.

Doc, I just re-read your post. The Illusionists have already completed their first world tour, but this didn't include North America. Apparently it was so successful, that The Illusionists 2 is even bigger.

The show has been here several times in the last three years. Andrew has let me know each time and offered tickets. Sadly he has always been intersate and over 700 miles away each time. He is certainly living the dream.

Andrew is leaving hot and humid Houston, TX and is now on his way to sunny San Jose, CA.
First off, I agree with Mick that Andrew's full-view water torture is very, very good. During the show, Andrew spotted me in the audience and sent a stagehand to pull me backstage. We had a wonderful time catching up. It is hard to believe that its been around 8 years since we last saw each other. After the late show (3 shows that day *yikes*) we were able to continue our chat. Needless to say, next time Andrew or Kevin James are in Houston, they're getting pulled out to Casa de Allgood for some real Texas barbeque. Good times with good friends. |

Andrew and the illusionists will be in my neck of the woods next february. I already have my tickets. I have seen his water torture cell on TV, but never live. Might be like Kristen Johnson. You can see her on the small screen and enjoy it, but it is not like seeing her do it live.

Saw the show yesterday. Quite an amazing bit of business that one is. I found myself wondering how such a diverse group of magicians might or might not get along while traveling cross country together. See the show if you can, it is worth it. Much of the show is put up on a big screen over the stage, I will still recommend getting seats closer up to the front. I think the view is considerable better that way.
A full write up will be seen in the March issue of The Chainletter, available for free here.... http://www.tiesociety.info Great show. Andrew was amazing.
