Serious question how much per hour average can I expect to make busking with just balloon hats. Need to know before starting and expecting too much. Is $50/hr unreasonable? How about 12/hr? Need to know what to expect. I am planing on a road trip and paying for it by busking balloons if possible.
Thanks Paddy |

Hard luck Henry Haggen would've called that question a depender. It depends on too many variables to answer.
Assuming it's a pleasure/adventure road trip, and you can plan to visit places that are busker friendly with a lot of families, then $50 an hour is reasonable. Even if you don't control your itinerary, you can increase your earn rate before you leave by researching where you're going. Out of curiousity, why just hats?

A lot of it depends on you location. I've always found that you need a lot a lot a lot of foot traffic to make busking worthwhile. Because you need to have a crowd to attract more of a crowd.

I crashed a county fair for about an hour and did well. The problem was I saw a balloon that was not of my making and found out that I had missed another twister working!(When I got to the fair I looked around and didn't see a twister) So I packed up went to the twister apologise and left. Lots of fair have booked entertainment so you have to watch crashing. You could pay your way in and find another twister there. (I don't work some one's pitch it's just rude) Then your out your gas and ticket price.
P.S. Paddy I live in Monroe Ohio not far from you if you drop me a PM we can talk. Balloon and Magic has been my full time job for the last 5 years and a group of twisters meet once a month in the area to share ideas

I've crashed 2 outdoor events, and it went swimmingly (no other twisters) As for really 'busking', that is, just unpacking & doin your thing on some street-corner or wherever....yes that DEFinetly depends on a wide number of factors. Go to a nice upscale part of a nice, high-income town & scope out the shopping street. Find a toy / seet shop, and bounce the idea of you twisting outside their store. There are different ways to go about this, but I prefer not to try and charge the store anything, just take any tips given, and let the manager see how much more business it brings in.

Okay, since no one else has....here's a straight answer.
When I go out to the park by the fountain on Sundays & twist just for the flippity-flap of it, I make about $20 an hour. When I crashed the sidewalk art-festival, it was about $54 an hour. If the weather is good, so is the money.

Location location location. Some days are good and then there's your bad days. Some days I've made $75 per hour other days I've packed up and left with nothing in my pocket. On average I make about $25 to $30 an hour.

One of these days I really want to go to NYC and see how it goes busking in Times Square; I just never really have the time.

If you're coming to town sometime send me a PM and I'll turn you on to a few good spots. Peas

Thanks, NYCTwister, I'm in CT, so it's just strain ride down. But yeah, time is just right. Maybe I'll carve or some time to do it in the spring time I'll let you know!
