Hello all:
I just wanted to say that my good friend Bobby Motta contributed to the "Bonus Ideas" for my T.U.R.N. trick with 2 different routines....And one of them includes the iUnlockYourMind trick! Just goes to show you that you guys are on the same page, and great minds think alike! lol Best regards, Jason |

Hello all:
I wanted to add something about my T.U.R.N. trick. One of things that a few people have mentioned, is that they are concerned that the performer has to handle the lock to do the “secret something” before handing it back to the spectator. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve done this so many times and never once been questioned as to why I’ve briefly handled the lock. The truth is that no one even remembers, because it isn’t really a big deal in the course of the routine. What they remember is that the spectator was holding the lock the entire time they entered the numbers and I didn’t touch it (and plus during my recap, I remind them of this). Laypeople don’t really think about this stuff, the way us magicians analyze and pick things apart. lol As long as the structure of the routine is such that the heat is taken off the prop, they don’t even bother themselves with details like this. And in the case of my T.U.R.N., that is exactly what happens: The handling of the lock to do that “secret something” is done on such an offbeat, makes total sense in the structure of the routine, and is done so QUICKLY, that no one even suspects a thing. However my friend Morgan Strebler came up with a neat idea that can really help deflect any concerns a performer may have. So in Morgan’s routine, you would take the lock out into the audience to have different spectators try to open it with their own randomly chosen combinations. Of course it is locked, and they won’t be able to. Go to the first person and hand them the lock, and ask them to dial in any combination they want and see if it will open. They do, and it doesn’t open. Take the lock back and walk over to a second spectator, hand them the lock, and ask them to do the same. They do, and again it doesn’t open. Take the lock back and walk over to a third spectator, hand them the lock and again ask them to to the same. Finally go to one more spectator, start to hand them the lock and say, “You know what, on second thought, come with me on stage and let’s try it from there.” Of course you do the “secret something”, hand them the lock, ask them to hold it tightly, and go up on stage with them. Once you are on the stage, you continue with the routine from there. What’s great about this idea from Morgan is that it not only is a very “fair” way to get a spectator to help you on stage, but it also really solidifies in the audience’s mind that the lock was truly locked, and multiple people had tried unsuccessfully to open it. Doing it this way even more sets up in their minds that you did this all “hands free”. Thanks Morgan! And everyone please let me know if you have any questions or thoughts. Best regards, Jason |

Actually that will work very well . The psychology behind this is really convincing.

I do not do stage work but a lot of strolling and one on one and I like the idea of T.U.R.N. very much. So my question is - can this be done in a one on one and the move still be hidden? You can PM me if you don't want to expose anything that might reveal the method. Thank you.

Hi Jaizon:
Yes absolutely, you can do the move one on one and they will be none the wiser. I actually just did the trick on someone last weekend. It was just me and him, and he was floored; he had no idea how it was done! Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks! Best regards, Jason |

I just pulled the trigger and ordered T.U.R.N.
Do I already know how it works? Yes, I figured it out based on my familiarity with the construction of these locks and other clues. Could I make rig one of these up myself? Probably, but I would need to acquire certain equipment. Would it be economical given all of the time, effort, and trial and error involved? Heck no. And besides, I didn't come up with the idea and the creator of a new trick deserves to be compensated. That's just good ethics. I actually like the fact that I'd pieced together how it all works because, as opposed to many effects being marketed, I know exactly what I'm getting. And based on that, I deemed this worth purchasing. I even had a nice chat with Jason Palter before making my decision and he was very open. I've had the chance to spend some time with him in the past and he's always struck me as a nice guy and helpful too. These are the kinds of guys that deserve the magic community's support. I actually brought up a (very) small concern I had and Jason turned that negative into a positive. Right over the phone. How's that for magic? I'm looking forward to getting my T.U.R.N. (and giving it a spin). Sorry, I couldn't resist. So many puns! |

Now this has really gotten me excited! I've had several ideas for a lock of this type and I have bought more than one, which are now just sitting in some box, unused. But this one...looks like my search is over!

Hello all:
Robvh and Chappelly, thank you for your kind words! And Mvmagic: You are not the first that has approached me and said that my new "T.U.R.N." is the "answer" that they have been looking for in terms of lock effects. I'm very excited because these should be shipping in about a month! And Magician560, if your shop isn't getting them in stock, just have them contact me for wholesale info. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you for your time. Best regards, Jason |

Picked up T.U.R.N this morning from Jason Palter, the set up and how it works is brilliant. I owned almost all lock tricks that ever came on the market and this one is got to be the best. The fact that you can have spectators try any sequence of numbers and stop whenever they want and still have the final numbers open the lock is amazing.
This lock is the same one you see in the Hardware Stores every day, it does not look like a trick lock or anything special---a normal looking everyday lock.I've been looking for a lock like this for years, and finally it's here and I got one. Tricky Ricky |

Yes. Silly me, I didn't pre-order. But I ordered yesterday. Hopefully it won't be too long.
Preston P.S. I subscribed to the newsletter because I want to be on the list for Elite ZZ and UT. Can you tell me if you got that request? Thanks. |

So close! I'm attending an event tonight that I would have loved to use T.U.R.N. at. I think it would play really well to this group. Oh well, that just means I'll have one more routine ready for Christmas.
