... from the Surnateum.
Well, it seems to be a nice game to show the 10 most magical items, so here is the Surnateum's list. Contrary to many objects on lists, those can be 'activated'. 1 – the Eye of Shiva : a magical ring found on the mummy of an Ermit (sadhu) in the Himalayas. The ring probably dates from the XVIIIth century, but the Luk Mik inside is far more older. After reciting many mantras, the hand wearing the ring must be place on the wearer’s face such a way that the stone makes a third eye. 2 – the Hippie’s Talisman : Circa 1950/60 - A weird paw (monkey or lemurian) wrapped in silk with a sky iron phurbu tokchag to protect the owner fom the malevolent influence of the item. The owner can make 3 wishes – two seem to have already been made. Beware ! No one is blessed by trying to change his karma. 3 – the Tongue of Kali : The Relic has no possible datation, the reliquary is XVIIIth century.Hidden in an antique wooden Linga, the tongue of Kali is a huge red salt ‘tongue’. It’s a prefect apotropaic object against every kind of demonic entity. 4 – the Babylonian Demon Bowl : IVth century CE -. A rare apotropaic bowl that should be placed in a corner of a room to catch demons. 5 – the Egyptian Curse doll and tablet : 4500 year old clay doll and tablet - The 2 hauntiques are different but have similar purposes : owning people or tribes. Photo above. 6 – the Fairy Stones : 2 seemingly classical Holed Stones. If you look thru the stone you create a connexion between the mundane world and Seelie or Unseelie. You never know in advance which stone is a door to Seelie or Unseelie. Quite interesting but dangerous items. 7 – the Sator Necromantic Skull : XVIIth century Germany - You must follow a specific ritual linked to Dyonisos to consult the artifact, that includes drinking some drug. After writing a question on an ivy leaf , the querer goes to sleep. The answer tio the query appears in dreams. 8 – Quena/Kena Ollantay : Circa 1000 CE - A pre columbian bone flute made from a princess leg bone. 9 – the Mo Die : XVIIth century Tibet. – A Mantra Die (Om Mani Padme Um), very useful for the discovery of Tulkus (including Dalai and Pancheng Lamas). The Die was certainly used to find the reincarnation of the Great Fifth. 10 – the Oracle Deck of Cassandra : A unique Oracle Deck that always tells the same story, even if you shuffle the cards toroughly. |

Notes:
- The Eye of Shiva is sometimes called the Ring of Maya (Illusion). It must be placed on the Ajna Chakra, the sixth one, to obtain 'vision'. - Seelie is the world of 'Good Fairies' and Unseelie the world of Bad Fairies. - There's another necromantic skull at the Surnateum, farmore powerful. It's called the Skull of Pan. |

Yeah I got a couple of the Fairy Stones myself,
http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa120......1310.jpg Which are very usable but dangerous objects like the cuator said above. But what I do not have is the skull of Pan. Which I would really like to have. That is outstanding. |

The skull of Pan's origin may be a cult object created (but we can't see the way the horns have been attached to the skull) for a certain Pan Lodge at Painswick - Gloucestershire, by Bejamin Hyett. He's 300 year old.

If you were a member of this very secret society of Demon Hunters, you should have such a ring. Ahura Mazda fighting Arhiman.

Carissimi obsecro deus meus exaudi orationem meam pro matre infirmum (My dear God listen to my prayer for my sick mother)
A Vth century Roman defixiones with a Christian prayer on it. The only of his kind in existence, currently studied by the University of Heidelberg, (along with the Egyptian execration tablet from the Vth dynasty - there is another similar one at the Egyptian museum of Barcelona). A fusion of Christian and Pagan rites. |

Inscribed: “This Cap is part of the Oak Tree in the Torwood which was often an Asylum to the immortal Wallace. Drink of this and mark the footsteps of a Hero. The Torwood Wallace Oak Quaich dates from 1816-1819. More information in French here. http://logs.surnateum.com/the-torwood-cup/ |

Curator, many thanks for sharing.
The Torwood Wallace Oak Quaich I find particularly interesting as I was born and brought up in Dunipace (now living in France). I think the Dunipace referred to in the text is probably old Dunipace, which is about 3 miles East from where Dunipace is situated today. The new cemetery for Denny & Dunipace is located approximately in the area where old Dunipace used to be. It is situated next to an ancient cemetery and some ruins of what I believe is an old abbey where it is said that William Wallace spent time as a boy (to be confirmed). For interest, if you go to Google Earth / Maps and locate the point slightly North East of the intersection of the roads B905 to Larbert, A 883 to Camelon / Falkirk and the A8004 you can see the new cemetery and this is roughly where old Dunipace used to be. Further to my last post.....the following link (if you page down) gives a bit more on the history associated with the sit / area around old Dunipace.
The Hills of Dunipace. http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site......ace.html When I was a boy I was told that the name came from the signing of an ancient treaty to prevent a conflict i.e. it was done in peace - dunipace. That said, I am no historian, therefore, I am unable to confirm this or what others have written in the link. I know this has nothing much to do with bizarre / magic, however, it is quite interesting. |

Thanks, every bit of information is useful to me.
If you can translate from French (or read French), you'll see that the Torwood Quaich is far more than interesting. There are links to William Wallace, old druidic oak, Walter Scott, Frankenstein et Polidori's vampyre... among other things. And obviously real scotch whisky. |
