At first I thought this is great. But then the reality sets in. Like most new magical things, all the descriptions are pretty bland. You really cant nail down an answer to questions like; How long does it last?. Just what size coins will it handle? Then other flaws pop up. Ooh got to keep lint off it, ooh got to be careful not to use it around fire, ooh have to use chemicals to get it off. Ooh its ok with cards until it gets on them and the cards stick. etc etc.
Now with all that being said, It does look like it can do a lot of nice things and also be used as an aid in manipulations. Using it at the right time may just make you look like a super Magician... BUT the worst thing of all??? Wait for it... Wait for it... This Brand new item has not even been out a week and already some dealers have it up on Ebay with a complete description for all to see. |

Nice markup! Of course, I'm presuming there are all sorts of issues with refund claims, but still looks pretty nice. |

I don't know about E-bay, but I bought a jar and I'm super happy with what I.received . For me, it's living up to the hype.
Your mileage may vary.

True, it is not necessarily the easiest product to work with; it's not "self-working" so to speak. But many of the best things we can use are like that. Everything doesn't have to be easy or simple to be helpful. So why do we subject ourselves to products like this? Because it is our desire to deceive and amaze people at the same time, and we will do whatever it takes to do so!
Ok, back to Octopalm... I like it and I think it's worth whatever effort it takes to use it effectively.I won't say that I'll use this for most of what I do, but I can see enough uses to make it very worthwhile. Jim |

For me, it was money well spent. I'm with you. I'm not at all against a little trouble and prep work to knock people's eyes out of their sockets. To me, it's no trouble at all.

I had the chance to test this product today. what can I say? yes, it looks, feels and smells exactly like gorilla snot. just placed into another jar with a new name, that's it.
i would not recommend this, because it leaves traces on every object you touch, especially on playing cards. you will mess them up and they will not be usable for some card effects anymore. it's extremely sticky and not only on your hands. if you want to get a better grip for coins, just use some glycerine. it's very cheap and works like a charm and is washable just with some water. i doubt, that this product is good for your skin in long term and to remove it completely, you have to use some strong and agressiv stuff. i definetly do not recommend this product. if you want to do the tricks teached on the dvd, there are a lot better and saver ways to do that. i really doubt, that eric jones uses this stuff in his professional performances.

Hi Todd.
For me, in a lot of cases, you won't see any overt use of Octopalm. I'll be using it for its utility. E.g., much easier use of the ID - no more "separation" issues. Also, paddle moves; with really dry hands, I can easily flub a paddle move when the lotion wears off. Can't happen with Octopalm! Lots more of things like that. Jim |

Hi guys!
I found a quick and easy way to remove octopalm without harsh chemicals like mineral spirits. I tried instant hand sanitizer and it came right off. I used the cheap CVS brand and it works great and it's easy to carry with you. Jeff |

How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.

Cool if it works, though Eric Jones did say that he tried alcohol wipes and while it helped it didn't get it all. Of course there's no real need to remove it right away unless you are performing more effects where it would be a hindrance instead of a help.

Rasmus has never used restraint!! I will say that when he likes an effect he praises it effusively. And when he doesn’t, he definitely doesn’t hold back! I happen to disagree with him on this one, though.

Enjoying the video but I still haven't had much luck with this stuff. Takes forever to dry and it is sticky to the touch and leaves a residue. I'll keep experimenting but I wish the video went into more detail about how to properly apply.

On Sep 21, 2014, Genie Gene wrote: Of course they would say that! To sell this for only $9.99 with a DVD, the cost/production ratio would be much higher if it was a "made from scratch" product. We have seen this many times over the years. A magician finds an off-the-shelf product that works for him and decides to repackage it and sell it at higher price then one can get the original, without the ad hype and relabeling. However, even if it is exactly the same and just re-labled, it's not that much higher of a retail price...the addition of the DVD, more than justifies the couple of bucks. Now, I am not necessarily saying this is the case, but if it were, they would obviously say that it is different, it wouldn't be good for sales to say it's the same. With that said, they appear exactly the same to me. |
