I have been having this debate with myself for a while. :/
And I'm going to have to say that my all time favorite street magic trick is...Pyro Perfection. It's just cool and gets knockout reactions! |

What do you mean by ungimmicked two card monte: "Be Honest, What Was your Card?"?
My vote goes to "Psychokinetic Time"! Shahin |

Criss Angel floating 5 feet up in the air just by concentrating really hard has to be one for the all time favourites I think.

Greetings and Salutations,
I'll have to go with what many claim is the oldest trick in magic -- the venerable Cups and Balls. No other trick/routine/effect combines as much magic. The cups and balls features productions, sleight-of-hand, disappearances, solid-through-solid, misdirections, and transpositions, can be done either silently, silently with music, or with patter or a story, can be done for one person or more than 100, and you can do the whole trick/routine/effect in a minute or two or make it stretch to the feature of your act. Hands down, flat out, my "all time" favorite would have to be the cups and balls. That's my $.02 (USD) worth. Blainiacs, YMMV. Joe in KC Have a magical life, live a great adventure! P.S. YMMV = "Your Mileage May Vary," or, it works for me, it may not work for you Have fun playing in the streets. Joe in KC Live long and prosper. |

I think it's safe to say that MagiUlysses thinks that if you listed "Two Card Monte" as your favorite, that you are a "Blainiac." I am going to say that "Two card Monte" is one of my favorites too. Label me what you will.

Greetings and Salutations,
OK, OK. I usually don't intentionally take digs at the Blainiacs unless they're asking for it, and in this case I let one slip. Che, your coin in the bottle sets you apart as one who has moved beyond him who introduced you to magic, and IMHO, that precludes you from being a Blainiac. What I meant, should have said, and didn't was: the cups and balls will not do for guerilla-style, hit-and-run, watch-watch -- look-look, style magic favored by most Blainiacs. Personally, Blaine, from what I've seen, read, and heard has paid his magical dues to get to where he is and more power to him. He introduced a new generation to magic, and for that I thank him. Me, I was introduced to magic by the Masked Magician and a blind magician, go figure. From this point forward, as I have meant from the beginning, when I refer to "Blainiacs," I mean those who emulate, imitate, copy, or otherwise continue in the same vein as DB, trying to be the next DB when there is only one DB, and he has cornered the market on the DB-style. What the world wants now is to see the next original idea, presentation, character, etc., IMHO. Joe in KC Have a magical life, live a great adventure! Greetings and Salutations, And my apologies to any who I may have offended, including you, Che. My original comments contained no reference to any trick/routine/effect other than the cups and balls, which has been performed in every conceivable venue known to man -- that could be why it is considered amongst the oldest of magical effects. My passing reference to Blaine-clones indicated that they may not find the cups and balls to their tastes. No where in my original comments will you find my likening anyone on this thread to a Blainiac. I expressed my street performance preference, and the reasons for my preference. To any who consider themselves offended for what they interpreted in what I wrote, or offended for what others interpreted in what I wrote, I offer my heart-felt apologies. May you always inspire and awe your audience with the performance of the magic of your choosing. Joe "The Clown" in KC Have a magical life, live a great adventure! |

O.K. Back to the topic question. My favorite street effects are: Sankey's Killer Key, Ambitious Card, Professor's Nightmare, T&R card (any of several variations), cig thru coin, Ace Shaker (YUP, another Blaine effect), C&R rope, two dollar bill tear, dining on dollars, Temptation, and a few others!
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

Here then There.
Card shown, put in hand, hand is covered with the other hand. Show new card, take card and shake it, and it's changes places with the card clasped between their hands. It's more of an appetizer and can't stand on it's own, but boy does it grab attention for a first effect. It's my favorite effect, as I was blown away when I first saw the effect. |

Some of my favorite street effects are: Cups and balls, Invisible Deck, Stealth Pen and a sponge ball routine to name a few. But if I have to pick one I would have to say Cups and Balls.
