Dennis Barlotta studied with Slydini, for around 10 years. He's an absolute master, and he gives lessons both personally and online. He's located in White Plains, NY. Look him up if you want to learn the real work on Slydini's magic.

Lots of folks did some training with Tony, Bob Sander from the Café , I did, a good number of others. Serious students, who studied with him over a prolonged period of time are fewer. Cellini was the best known.

Hi all first time here I just found this site.
I used to be Toni's driver when he came to the bay area. We would go to dinner and hang out together and he taught me all his close up moves. That was back in the 80s. One night he told me this joke. Everyone thinks the Chinese invented acupuncture. That's a NO! The Sicilians invented acupuncture. Except they don't use a little needle they use an Ice Pick. ;-) I use that joke often talking about my fighting whips with a spike in them. He also taught me things to say when people ask how I did the trick. Question - How did you do that? Answer 1 - I think I did it very good. Answer 2 - Can you keep a secret? So can I. I did all his closeup magic at the Phoenix Theater of Magic on Broadway in San Francisco. Back when Pin and Teller started in the same club. I also used to love doing the fun Paper Ball performance. Anyway nice to see this chat. All the best Victor |

Doug Henning was a student of Slydini. I recall him doing his t&r cig on one of his specials. And of course, I adored Doug. Hey! I'm a Slydini student, too!
Er, um, well, kind of sort of. Through his books I am. I learned numerous Slydini effects through the Fulves books many moons ago. Used to present them in my stage shows. What I learned or gleaned from those books about timing, psychology and misdirection was pure gold and has stood with me through all these decades. I consider learning Slydini's principles an indispensable part of any good magic education.

Tony was a regular performer for many years when we had The Magic Towne House in NYC. It was a joy and honor to watch him night after night when he was there. Many of the NYC and other stars of magic of the time performed there, and did our yearly conventions, as well as many of the current stars of magic broke in or even began there as well. A regular NYC show spot was the dream of many of the greats of magic, Houdini, Thurston, Henning, Copperfield, etc. We were the first to accomplish it. Now you can go to Monday Night Magic in NYC, run by several of the people we started, helped and mentored. A great time, you should check out, if you are ever in NYC on a Monday night.
