There have been a handful of resources on working restaurants and getting the gigs however Christopher Lyle is one of the very few that walks the walk. He has released his knowledge into an ebook for those who might want to get into it or just a refresher course for those in the know. You can get it from www.sleightlydelusional.com. Here is some ad copy:
If you've ever wanted to work in restaurants but just didn't know how to get started, or have been working restaurants for some time now and need a fresh perspective on how to change it up, then THIS is the book for you. "Sleightly Delusional" is jam packed with 29 Chapters full of awesomeness. You will learn: -How to walk into any restaurant you want and walk out with a PAYING GIG (not just working for tips alone)! -Setting yourself up for success in the restaurant environment to ensure your longevity. -How to get the restaurant to work for you to make you more successful and improve your "bottom line!" -Creating a brand to make yourself more visible to your customers to guarantee they remember YOU! -Hard hitting Magic Routines that have been used "in the trenches" for many years, complete with written and video performances and explanations. -Methods on how to create Balloon Artistry in the restaurant environment. How to create those "large show pieces" that most say are "impossible" to make in this setting. I show you HOW it works and explain WHY it works. ...and much, much more! "Slightly Delusional" is now available for sale for $30.00USD. This is a digital eBook. This is a purchase to download. Nothing is shipped. |

I Agree, this ebook is a beauty.
To me all the effects taught are workers and will fit into anyone's close up set quite nicely. Christopher has added links of him performing and breaking down each effect on video. You get to see the effect work in a real world scenario...actually you get to see it being performed where he works....not a set up gathering in some super cool looking location. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just to me, this is a "In the trenches " kind of book and it's nice to see the effects work in that warts and all inviorment. I had a question regarding a move in one of the effects, I emailed Christopher and he replied super quick (I live in Australia) and broke it down for me over Skype This is a great purchase...5 stars. |

It's great to hear this has been released. Looking over website it states 29 chapters, then later 64 pages. So each chapter averages a bit over 2 pages? But also states there's links to 19 videos. So do the videos round out the book?

The book was close to 150 pages. I then decided to embed performance and teaching videos into the pdf on many of the routines instead of trying to explain it with photos and written instructions. That tightened it up a bit to about 80 pages.
I had a magazine editor format the book for me and she uses different formatting and margins than I do. That changed it to 69 pages. But it's still chock full of lots of great advice and a lot of video footage. 😊
