Harry, I am fascinated by your accounts of spending time with the "greats" of magic (Vernon, Scarne etc) when you were just starting out.
I am sure you know the New York magic scene today. When I visit New York (I live in the UK), what are your recommended places to visit to see/discuss/share great magic? Are there any opportunities to meet with respected magicians, similar to the ones you enjoyed? Thanks. Steve

Steve: Unforunately, the scene has changed. The magicians still meet at restaurants on Saturdays, but I don't really know them now, and it's not often you'll find a "name" there. Magicians still meet for lunch at the Edison Hotel on 4th St. off Broadway. Street level, way in the back of the restaurant. That's Monday through Friday. The good guys used to hang around Tannens on Saturdays, but I don't think that's happening anymore. That's about it. HARRY.

Actually, I believe respected names still hang out on Saturdays, such as Ken Krenzel, Wesley James, and others at Café Rustico in midtown.
