Check out Bill Malone's presentation on Volume One of his "On the Loose DVD's." These are excellent DVD's to own anyway and you should check them out.

I think the booklet that comes with it is the original patter. I'll have to get mine out.

I have the Malone DVD with the monte on it but it seems to be a pretty comical routine and I don't use much comedy when I perform, just sleights and a little patter.

Patter depends on your personality and style. Comedy works for some people and not others. Wise-guy patter fits some and not others, etc..
You have to fit the effect you're doing into your style of performing...patter is like that...it has to be YOURS...I only found that out too late trying to copy other's style and patter (ever tried to use Tarbell's patter? ). Do y'own thing! Cheers! Doug |

On Micheal Ammar's Icebreakers video, there is a bonus presentation with Ammar and Skinner, where Ammar is performing TCM on Skinner. It's a nice patter routine that Ammar uses there.

If you have Vol. 3 of the Legendary Repertoire Of Michael Skinner dvd, he does his Ultimate Three Card Monte on there. The routine he performs on the dvd is a bit different from what is in the instructions. But as was said earlier in this thread, it depends on what type of performer you are as to which routine will best fit you.

I patter about the first time I saw three card monte being played on the streets of New York. I was the victim. The ending patter is, "And that's why I do not play anymore."
I never ask the spectator any questions. I ask & answer them myself. |

Here's Mike performing it over a decade ago on the Travel Channel, using Holye backs. They now come in Bicycle.

I also use bills handling, but always use the 'old gypsy lady' presentation. I also bought the gypsy monte from 'cardshark.de'.
If that presentation would suit your style, then the vintage looking cards (same as skinners gaffs) included are stunning, and I can't recommend them enough. Oh, and they're around £8/€9/$15!!!! Bargain! K |

Has anyone ever tried switching in the skinner's monte cards after doing a regular 3 card monte with ungaffed folded cards? you would have to fold your skinner's monte cards, but you could still do the routine with a bend in the cards. and maybe you would have to use identical spot cards as opposed to a two and a three.
if you had a himber wallet, you start off with a standard 3 card monte routine... then switch to the skinner's monte cards... then switch back to the regular cards for maybe that folded corner ending. they can examine the cards at the beginning and the end. with the patter, you could be telling a story about how you lost your money playing this game to a con-artist. after the first phase is over, you can say: the con-artist put his cards away and said "you owe me $20" and then I replied to the con-artist "give me a chance to win my money back, double or nothing".... so then the con-artist took the cards back out and went really slowly. [you take out the skinner's monte cards and do a routine] then you repeat the same patter where the guy puts the cards away and asks for payment, and you beg him to let you try to win your money back... and then you fold the corner for the ending. and you could bring out an ungimmicked wallet to put the cards away in too since everything's examinable at that point. you don't' even really need a himber wallet... you could just put them away in your pocket to do the switch... but it's a bit nicer using a wallet. |

I use poem that I found long ago for Skinner's Ultimate Monte. I have made a number of changes to it thru the years, but it always works great...
Also known, when doing rope magic, as "Cordini"

I use Skinner's Monte regularly (always keeping it in a packet wallet on me) with very little patter, telling a story about how I'm constantly swindled by monte players.... but leaving the finale for the spectator's choice. I like Bill Malone's patter (and his fake impatience); but I don't really copy it. ie I like Dougini's advice from almost 10 years ago for all types of magic of creating your own patter... it will also help with timing as it will be 'natural' for you. Thanx to Zombie Magic for bringing Michael Skinner back to life. Lynn

I like the Skinner version too. The only monte trick I carry.
