Hi,
I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with high-security cuffs, or common North American cuffs that don't use the standard key? I think the S&W 104s are an example. I also saw at the Handcuff Warehouse handcuffs with actual cylinders on them (i.e. Peerless 710). Has anyone seen them in actual use? Anyone been challenged with them (and how did you deal with them?). Thanks! |

Sorry, that should have been "HIGH-security cuffs" as the title. Hopefully the spelling police will not put those special cuffs on me!

I own a set of S&W 104s. Picking them is a real job, they are designed to be hard to pick. However, there is another method of opening them best not mentioned in the open forum. Opening them that way is a piece of cake.

Thanks, Dave; you always bring a smile to my face!
Cliff - I assume you mean the technique that doesn't work when the cuffs are double locked? I need to get another pair of cuffs (the key doesn't work on them) - perhaps the local shop has some and I can take a look... |

The Peerless/S&W cuffs with the Assa/Medeco cylinders can also be beaten, using a technique that is also occasionally used to beat a cuff encased in a transport box (aka blue box), and yes, that's with the cuffs double-locked (!).

Excellent work Steve! Does it involve the method of "paying off the guard"? That works but you have to be either very rich or know the right guard to use or in some case both. Joking of course! Although we all have our price .... me ..... £1.56 and I'm anyone's. Sometimes I can be bought for a cup of tea.
Time for a serious question 1) Is the method you use your own? Please do't tip anything as valuable as that on an open forum of course. |

Dave,
I could send you bag of high-quality Tesco Tea (from a 1000 count box - that's how you know its quality)! I would also mail you the water - but it would just make the envelope soggy and it would be cold by the time you got it... PMing you steve... |

It's an old technique that inmates have also discovered, one that's easier with cheaper cuffs but CAN be done with the better makes.
I suspect it can be done more easily if the cuffs have been 'broken in' from use, and well lubricated with graphite. (that's a hint, by the way) The technique is not recommended for the newer S&Ws; there's an easier way to beat the double-locks on those.

By the way, Dave--limit your tea to 2-3 cups per day. Too much can put a strain on the kidneys.

Thanks for the tip! I was familiar with the end result tactic, but uncertain as to how to defeat the double lock.
