I was looking up ring & string routines and this site popped up... AliExpress.com. I see "desirable" DVD's for under $2, and desirable items selling for 5-10% of what they do through "established, reputable" dealers. Is this site a con (i.e. no product ever delivered or abuse of credit card info), selling counterfiets, or (I find hard to believe) legit ???

All the products are counterfeits - usually poorly made. The DVDs are pirated downloads - they don't care about copyright or giving any money to the originator. I don't know if they rip people off (credit cards or non-delivery)

Someone commented that his book was just photographs of the pages of the real book. For media I would avoid them.
Has anyone has experience with them for physical items like ITRs? |

"Out of print 'limited' books?
That'll be 3 dollars, please." Welcome to China. |

Never tried to buy a trick from them, but have inquired about a couple of things for stage decoration, props (i.e, cheap watches, etc.) Even though some listers say they accept paypal they don't. Emails always come back similar to "you pay by credit card we ship right out." Very wary about paying by CC to China, particularly in light of all the hacking going on these days.

I have purchased little accessory items, coins, close up pads, etc and I'm happy with my shopping experience there...BUT...do not buy books or videos.

Don't hate me for this! But I checked out Aliexpress for a few things . And they were massively cheaper versions. But either of lower quality or clearly pirated dvds and books. In addition , I had a lot of trouble getting the dvds , which turned out to be a download mp4 , so must be a copy. Though Aliexpress now have a , moneyback if not delivered , guarantee.
The moral issue... Well I don't agree with ripping off the creator by purchasing copies. So would not buy them again. However, I suspected that , in this case the creator was deliberately misleading in his trailer. He was . It saved me wasting money on the dvd . Though I gained nothing. If it had been what was implied in the trailer I would have happily purchased the original afterward. With regards to products .. they were inferior but some were good enough. One was better than the one I pay 10 times the price for . And the creator is deceased. So ... mixed feelings on that. |
