This case is real nice, I just got one and it's functional as well as pretty. I especially like the covered compartments in the lid. The only problem is it doesn't come with enough dividers, but it's not too hard to make your own.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZV2D......_o03_s00 Hope this info is useful to somebody. I like it because it's a nice aluminum case that doesn't scream makeup case.

Thanks for mentioning, that does look like it would function very well as a magic close-up case.

Bill, considering you comments about my post about the pencil cases for storing tricks, wouldn't a cardboard box be more economical for you to carry your tricks in??? LOL
Matthew, That's a great find. I've been using one very similar to that for years. It's a practical way to carry and organize close-up effects. John |

I got one of these a few years ago, very practical. I have had a signwriter put my advertising on the sides.

Storage usually means to put away for a period of time. Later we found out you meant a place to hold items during transporting. Very different meanings. The English language is difficult and usually needs more then one word. I find pencil cases to thin to hold my gimmicks and loose items. I use small hinged lid plastic containers from the dollar store, when available. Thanks for keeping me straight.😀 Bill.....no thin skin. It's all good. It was just a suggestion for storing, organizing, keeping, categorizing, classifying, guarding, protecting, saving, etc. you smaller props. Somehow, in my warped brain, I thought it might be of some interest to someone. I'm sorry if I have to explain it to you Bill. Just wondering how DOLLAR store "containers " are cheaper then .97 cent pencils cases......you don't have to answer. Carry on with the plastic sacks. John |

To bring this back to the OP's post, here's the case I use.

John, because the larger containers fit my props. I guess your pencil cases fit your props, but I don't use any flat items. I put sponge balls, dye tubes, egg gimmick, and such. They just will not fit in a pencil case.
Your idea was fine, I just did not understand that you meant to use them as some place safe to keep your loose items. I thought you meant store your tricks when not in use. Your initial post did not state the purpose and use of the pencil cases. So it was a miss understanding. You must have missed this, as you will note I am saying the same thing again. I just don't want you upset over a misunderstanding of your written words. |

We still have a "5 and Dime" in the next town. Surely you remember Rip Taylor? He had funny bit about inflation. He used to say everything is going up these days. The price of down is up. Pumpernickel is now pumperdime. Nickelodeon is nikeldimeon.

Egad! (as Jay Marshall would say. Yup, I do remember Rip Taylor! A very funny "prop" act. I had forgotten his inflation routine. Thanks for reminding me! I think I'll use those lines--they're "new" again!
You reminded me of George Washington's tossing a dollar across the river. (It can't be done these days. --A dollar doesn't go as far as it once did.) (only ONE "hee" on that one.) I still prefer the zip loc plastic bags for storing small gimmicks and small props in my "spares" case (Billy McComb did, too.) I actually learned this in the Boy Scouts! On the road, the working act prop case had little "pigeon holes"(pasteboard boxes). Working three a day, I never unpacked anything. I grabbed the prop, did the trick, and dropped it back into its "hole". Only a few bits required any set up or prep. (Color change silk, 20th C silks, a knot for Joe Ovette's (remember him?) "Repeat Knots", and, the "spots" on the 'one spot, 4 spots, three spots, six spots, and 8 spots card. I could set the show in less than 4 minutes, and pack in 2. I had to open the waiters stand, open the case and put the flash rag on it. I learned early, that, "It don't take brains to be uncomfortable"! Yr's, 'til the deck is shuffled! O

Oh, BTW the first aid sign on the side can be easily removed with "Goof Off" solvent without damaging the finish. I had tried nail polish remover and it was slow going and didn't get everything. Then I tried the Goof Off and it removed it all within seconds and all I had to do was wipe it off with a paper towel and it was clean as can be.

Go to Amazon and sewarch for "cosmetic case wheels" or "cosmetic trolley" and you will get a whole variety of this kind
of cases: As one-piece, two-piece, with or without wheels, with or without additional drawers, ... Although, I was surprised to see how expensive they are at amazon.com - there are models that are way cheaper at amazon.de (Germany) - but shipping to Alaska may kill the deal ... ;-) |

If you don't want anyone touching your case, if you have the one in the op, get some stick on letters and put "human organs , keep cool" on the side.

FYI I get my cases at Harbor Freight Tools, if you have a store close by or on-line. There is a good selection for a variety of uses and the prices are good too.
