Yes. I have thought about building one but just haven't had time. I really like the Illusion. I also like the fact that Osborne sends you the original Palmer Drawings along with his "improved" version.

I think there are 3 plans out here for this, Satain's Seat, Dream Seat and Merlyn's Throne.
There is a picture on this web site http://www.jamesbrandon.com/Products/products.html This is video of Doug Henning's version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbEYIMHTFq8 at 0:15 Lance Burton also had one in his show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCFCTlG1ayQ at 22:57 Disney Magic live also used a VARIATION in their show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1b5FAPAA6Y at 0:27 If you know of any other plans, video or pictures please post them here as I would like to take a look |

I bought wood and got block cut done $55.00 a Home Depot ( they did mess me up by not cutting it square). I am switching from the Osborne Plans to the Palmer Plans, because if a built per Osborne even it I took it apart I could not get it in my car, this is a very big throne. Plamer's plan builds the chair around a wooden bench (that does the dirty work).

I got the bench made today (not much to look at), I placed the mirror frame on it just to give a idea of where I am going.

Got the sides cut, also found in scrap pile a spiral banister that I cut down the middle ( the molding on this needs to be very chuncky)
this is picture of the dry fit. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......9nsl.jpg I still need to cut the arm rests. |

I got the armrests cut out (1 inch scrap)
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......zyfu.jpg I will check the Thrift Stores on Sat. for 2 similar ornate Picture frames to mount on the sides (they don't have to match as there is no way to see both sides at the same time). I could just buy but the molding and make but why if I can get 2 cheap (if the glass is broken or picture messed up I will point it out and offer them less than marked) as I am not using the glass or picture I don't care. So far I have spent $79.00 I want to make the THRONE as generic as possible Santa, Wizard or witch, King. I have the Genii Osborne plan for this but not the Osborne bought plan from his site (from the picture they are different), If you have the bought plan from Osborn site, private Messages me. |

OK bought a whole dresser at Thrift Store today for $5.00 it was in very very bad shape, but all I wanted was the 2 doors to mount on the side of my throne ( I just need something very chunky and cheap). It was in such bad shape they just wanted to get something $$ and get it out of there store. I was hopeing for plastic to cut down on the weight but this is pressed wood.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......ijs2.jpg I did recut the armrest today did not like my first try (I made a few changes). I also got 2 free rollershads out of neighbor trash and some thick molding. No I do not go in my neighbors trash but these were stick out ( and I need them). have not decided on finish but I do a lot of faux finishes and could go with bronze with a green patina or old gold ( we will have to see what is left in budget when we get there). |

I'm really like this project. It is great the way you reclaim old furniture etc.

I started putting this thing togather It is held togather by 6 bolts and 4 large pin hinges (so it can came apart and travel flat except the bench)( I think 15 min. setup time and break down time). If anyone wants to see where I put the pin hinges and bolts let me know. I started cutting out a rough templet of the front (this will take me a few trys to get right).

Taking a few days off the pick up my house it got very trashed last week. I did sand (knock off the finish on the mirror frame) so the primer will stick.
those 2 doors that I bought. http://s177.photobucket.com/user/illusio......jpg.html I took apart and used some it on the front chair legs http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......elg1.jpg I will find something else for the sides. Please remember the whole chair will be primed out and chair painted one color ( gold, I think). |

I have a question. I built mine using the plans as shown in Tops Treasury of Illusions (Tom Palmer's version). On it (although I no longer have it) were two hinged flaps that that completed the front center of the seat when the person is loaded inside. These swing outward and coalesce with the top of either chair leg front when the person appears and the front of the sliding seat replaces it. It seems as if yours does not allow for that if the decorative parts are added as you have them. What are your plans?

I am also not using a roller shade over lap (using a lap cloth as in the genii plan). I changed all the dimentions also (just a few inches here and a few there). Michael do you have any pictures of yours I would love to see them. |

I don't have any photos of mine. Sorry. I do have it on video, but it's on VHS, and those tapes are not easily accessible. If I ever dig them out, and convert them, and figure out how to upload to YouTube (something I've never done), I will.
