I own John Bannon's Smoke and Mirrors book. One of my favorite tricks in the book is Tattoo You!
The last change in the routine, where the signature jumps from one card to the other, has been caught for some reason by the spectator. The spectators simply catches on that I switched the cards. Does anyone perform the jumping signature a different way. Different handling? |

You should check out the bonus effect on my upcoming product, Gaft Card Magic. It is a gaff free handling of Tattoo You that is as visual and leaves you clean...

I'll vouch for Syd's routine. I've used it for walk-around and it kills.

No pun intended but the trailer didn't show anything that made me want to buy this....you should consider maybe just doing one routine as a trailer
Just my 2 cents

Understood...just telling you what I thought about it...a showing of spread deck with one face down card doesn't tease me at all...anyways, good luck with it.

Actually, I don't even think that was in the trailer. I think you mean a face down deck with a face up card in the center and that is WAY better than what you said . Anyway, take care... S.Segal |

Segal, I've watched the trailer and I think JoeKing is refering to the fact that there is really no 'magic' in the trailer. Quite a number of special effects and James Bond music, but very little magic (aside from a brief card change). There could very well be some exciting effects on there, but your trailer doesn't show any of it. No insult is intended, I think it's more of a helpful suggestion. If you actually showed an effect in it (or at least a snippet of one that showed some magic), people would get a better impression of the product and might be more inclined to buy.

Marko, great comments... I will see what I can get up in the next few days showing an effect...
S.Segal BTW, sorry for this thread turning into critiques of the trailer.... Does anyone else know of different handlings for Tatoo You? I too am interested in knowing... |

Now, back to Tattoo You. Does anyone know of a different handling for Tatoo You. The last signature change? |

Know what you mean about the last change. I've changed grip slightly and do it as in the first take of an Elmsley. Hope that helps

(I know this is off-topic, but I must add...)
Have you seen the video, "Smoke & Mirrors"? That really shows that effect's little nuances...I think that's what inspired me...If you like "Tattoo You", then... Both "Impossibilia" & "Smoke & Mirrors" are must have videos, for the very same quality and style of handling in his other KILLER tricks! He has a very low-key style, and brings a "regular guy" approach to doing magic. No wise-guy, challenging stuff from John, LOL! Very inspiring...great companions to those priceless books! Doug |

I agree with Dougini, watch the video and watch yourself get fooled. If you get caught, you either didn't do it right or your speed is too slow--in other words practice.

Practice that last move no less than 25 times each sitting and video it if you can. Do this every day for a couple weeks. If it doesn't make you any more comfortable or better with the last move then seek out another method.
Just based upon myn own performing experience, sometimes it is good to practice a move or action until it becomes part of the muscle memory. It has to get better!
