I never had the opportunity to see Lee Grabel live. Guess I really missed something.
My two mentors in magic both saw him perform (and got to know him personally) and raved about his flawless work. That whole "Mantle of Magic" thing is kinda silly, I suppose, but all indications are that Grabel was one of the true masters of this art. Fortunately, we still have several masters among us. They should be treasured. |

I was fortunate to see him at the IBM Convention in Little Rock. He was the "surprise performer" in the gala show.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

I got a great compliment from him after he watched my act, feel very lucky to have known him.

There's a nice obituary in the S.Francisco Chronicle that's run for 2 days. He lived in Alamo, CA; and his legacy went way back. That 'mantle of magic' was passed to him by the legendary Dante, and this 'mantle' goes back at least to Keller!!! I didn't know I lived so close to this legend of magic til I read the obit! A loss to our magic community, and condolences to his family, including his wife who married him 71 years ago! Lynn
